Dynamic Promotion of the Oxygen Evolution Reaction via Programmable Metal Oxides [PDF]

open access: yes
Hydrogen gas is a promising renewable energy storage medium when produced via water electrolysis, but this process is limited by the sluggish kinetics of the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER).

Oxygen Evolution Reaction on Perovskites: A Multieffect Descriptor Study Combining Experimental and Theoretical Methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The correlation between ex situ electronic conductivity, oxygen vacancy content, flat-band potential (Efb), and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity for a wide range of perovskite compositions [La1–xSrxCoO3−δ series (with x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0 ...

Missing-linker metal-organic frameworks for oxygen evolution reaction

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
While water splitting electrocatalysis provides a means to store electrical energy as fuel, the water oxidation catalysts typically show low performances.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

A 3D rGO-supported NiFe2O4 heterostructure from sacrificial polymer-assisted exfoliation of NiFe-LDH for efficient oxygen evolution reaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
NiFe2O4 takes an attractive potential candidate for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts, however, its usual preparation based on high-temperature calcination limits exposure of catalytically active sites.

Tracking the correlation between spintronic structure and oxygen evolution reaction mechanism of cobalt-ruthenium-based electrocatalyst

open access: yesNature Communications
Regulating the spintronic structure of electrocatalysts can improve the oxygen evolution reaction performance efficiently. Nonetheless, the effects of tuning the spintronic structure for the oxygen evolution reaction mechanisms have rarely been discussed.

Oxygen desorption – Critical step for the oxygen evolution reaction

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Electrochemistry, 2023
The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) has been widely investigated in computational electrocatalysis. Recent studies suggest that the final oxygen desorption step could be rate-limiting, or even inhibiting, for the classical OER mechanism on the benchmark IrO2 electrocatalyst, and a novel reaction mechanism has been proposed circumventing this bottleneck.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
