Impact of dielectric properties on ionic conductivity of Ce0.9Sm0.1O1.95 via defect interaction

open access: yesMaterials Letters: X, 2021
This study mainly investigates the defect interaction mediated ionic conductivity of Ce0.9Sm0.1O1.95. The ionic conductivity mainly depends on the concentration of free oxygen vacancies.

Pressure Destabilizes Oxygen Vacancies in Bridgmanite [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2021
AbstractBridgmanite may contain a large proportion of ferric iron in its crystal structure in the forms of FeFeO3and MgFeO2.5components. We investigated the pressure dependence of FeFeO3and MgFeO2.5contents in bridgmanite coexisting with MgFe2O4‐phase and with or without ferropericlase in the MgO‐SiO2‐Fe2O3ternary system at 2,300 K, 33 and 40 GPa ...

Controlled manipulation of oxygen vacancies using nanoscale flexoelectricity [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
AbstractOxygen vacancies, especially their distribution, are directly coupled to the electromagnetic properties of oxides and related emergent functionalities that have implications for device applications. Here using a homoepitaxial strontium titanate thin film, we demonstrate a controlled manipulation of the oxygen vacancy distribution using the ...

Vacancies and vacancy-oxygen complexes in silicon: Positron annihilation with core electrons [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 1998
Various point defects in silicon are studied theoretically from the point view of positron annihilation spectroscopy. Properties of a positron trapped at a single vacancy, divacancy, vacancy-oxygen complexes $({\mathrm{VO}}_{n}),$ and divacancy-oxygen complex are investigated. In addition to the positron lifetime and positron binding energy to defects,

Oxygen-vacancy-related relaxation and conduction behavior in (Pb1-xBax)(Zr0.95Ti0.05)O3 ceramics

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2014
(Pb1-xBax)(Zr0.95Ti0.05)O3 (x = 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075 and 0.1) ceramics were prepared via a solid-state reaction route. Low-frequency (20 ∼ 2 × 107 Hz) dielectric properties were investigated in the temperature region of 25-650 °C.

In Situ Analysis of Oxygen Vacancies and Band Alignment in HfO2/TiN Structure for CMOS Applications

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2017
The density of oxygen vacancies characterization in high-k/metal gate is significant for semiconductor device fabrication. In this work, a new approach was demonstrated to detect the density of oxygen vacancies by in situ x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

Molten-salt defect engineering of TiO2(B) nanobelts for enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

open access: yesJCIS Open, 2021
Defect engineering has been proved to be an effective strategy to adjust the electronic structures and photocatalytic activities of semiconductor oxides. However, due to lack of convenient approach to construct defect, the effect of oxygen vacancy defect

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Enhancing the performance of Bi2O3–ZnO semiconductor bilayers for photoelectrochemical electrodes by strategically engineering oxygen vacancies

open access: yesJournal of Science: Advanced Materials and Devices
This study successfully synthesized sheet-like triangular Bi2O3 using the hydrothermal method and subsequently annealed it in a hydrogen-contained atmosphere to effectively introduce oxygen vacancies.
