Role of Heme Oxygenase in Gastrointestinal Epithelial Cells

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2022
The gastrointestinal tract is a unique organ containing both vascular and luminal routes lined by epithelial cells forming the mucosa, which play an important role in the entry of nutrients and act as a selective barrier, excluding potentially harmful ...

DOWNY MILDEW RESISTANT 6 and DMR6-LIKE OXYGENASE 1 are partially redundant but distinct suppressors of immunity in Arabidopsis.

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, 2015
Arabidopsis downy mildew resistant 6 (dmr6) mutants have lost their susceptibility to the downy mildew Hyaloperonospora arabidopsidis. Here we show that dmr6 is also resistant to the bacterium Pseudomonas syringae and the oomycete Phytophthora capsici ...

Loss of NR2F6 Protects from Salmonella Typhimurium Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Loss of nuclear receptor NR2F6 reduces tissue‐resident macrophage populations. Nr2f6‐deficient mice are protected from weight loss and bacterial load during infection with Salmonella Typhimurium. Pro‐inflammatory cytokines and iron levels are altered in infected Nr2f6‐deficient mice.

Studies on the specificity of unprocessed and mature forms of phytanoyl-CoA 2-hydroxylase and mutation of the iron binding ligands

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2005
The mature form of phytanoyl-coenzyme A 2-hydroxylase (PAHX), a nonheme Fe(II)- and 2-oxoglutarate-dependent oxygenase, catalyzes the α-hydroxylation of phytanoyl-CoA within peroxisomes.

Xanthophylls Modulate Palmitoylation of Mammalian β-Carotene Oxygenase 2

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2021
An extensive body of work has documented the antioxidant role of xanthophylls (lutein and zeaxanthin) in human health and specifically how they provide photoprotection in human vision.

Heme oxygenase 1 is differentially involved in blood flow-dependent arterial remodeling: role of inflammation, oxidative stress, and nitric oxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Heme oxygenase 1 is induced by hemodynamic forces in vascular smooth muscle and endothelial cells. We investigated the involvement of heme oxygenase 1 in flow (shear stress)-dependent remodeling.

Elevated Histone Lactylation Mediates Ferroptosis Resistance in Endometriosis Through the METTL3‐Regulated HIF1A/HMOX1 Signaling Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that histone lactylation, a modification derived from lactate, plays a crucial role in ferroptosis resistance in ectopic endometrial stromal cells. This resistance is mediated via the HIF1A/HMOX1 pathway regulated by METTL3. In vivo, a combination of 2‐DG and erastin shows promise as an effective treatment for endometriosis ...

Development of inhibitory antibodies to therapeutic factor VIII in severe hemophilia A is associated with microsatellite polymorphisms in the HMOX1 promoter

open access: yesHaematologica, 2013
Induction of heme oxygenase-1, a stress-inducible enzyme with anti-inflammatory activity, reduces the immunogenicity of therapeutic factor VIII in experimental hemophilia A.

Study on differential expression of 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid oxidase genes in table grape cv. Thompson Seedless [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
As a consequence of the non-climacteric status of grapes (Vitis vinifera), ethylene biosynthesis and signal transduction have scarcely been studied in this fruit.
