Cerebral Venous Thrombosis in a Case of P. Vivax Malaria [PDF]
Cerebral Venous Thrombosis (CVT) is relatively an uncommon manifestation in adults with Malaria. CVT is more often seen in patients with Falciparum malaria. Here we present a rare case of a 31-year-old male with Vivax malaria, who developed diplopia secondary to CVT. His treatment involved anticoagulation, analgesics as well as treatment of malaria.

Plasmepsins as Antimalarial Drug Targets—Then, Now, and the Future
ABSTRACT Malaria is a devastating disease caused by Plasmodium parasites. Plasmodium parasites express ten cathepsin D‐like aspartyl proteases, called plasmepsins (PMs). These PMs have diverse roles fulfill diverse functions throughout the parasite's lifecycle, though several exhibit functional redundancies. Among them, PMV, PMIV, and PMX are essential

Long-lived antibody and B Cell memory responses to the human malaria parasites, Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax. [PDF]
Antibodies constitute a critical component of the naturally acquired immunity that develops following frequent exposure to malaria. However, specific antibody titres have been reported to decline rapidly in the absence of reinfection, supporting the ...

ABSTRACT Plasmodium vivax‐associated anemia is a multifactorial clinical outcome, in which the destruction of uninfected red blood cells (uRBCs) plays a major role in disease development and severity. Here, we identified autoantibody targets within the extracellular loops of Band 3 (B3), a major erythrocyte transmembrane protein.

Mosquito Salivary Antigens and Their Relationship to Dengue and P. vivax Malaria
In tropical areas, the simultaneous transmission of multiple vector-borne diseases is common due to ecological factors shared by arthropod vectors. Malaria and dengue virus, transmitted by Anopheles and Aedes mosquitoes, respectively, are among the top vector-borne diseases that cause significant morbidity and mortality in endemic areas.

Of 22 chloroquine (CQ) analogs, 16 showed IC503D7 values of 27–555 nM; their activity against the CQ‐resistant K1 strain and in silico/vitro hepatotoxicity were evaluated. Benzamides with chlorine and nitro groups were most active, showing IC50K1 and RI values lower than CQ and cytotoxic concentrations well above inhibitory concentrations.
