The poxvirus encoded ubiquitin ligase, p28, is regulated by proteasomal degradation and autoubiquitination

open access: yesVirology, 2014
Virus manipulation of the ubiquitin–proteasome system has become increasingly apparent. Ubiquitin is a 76 amino acid protein that is post-translationally conjugated to target proteins, while poly-ubiquitination subsequently leads to degradation via the ...

P25 and P28 proteins of the malaria ookinete surface have multiple and partially redundant functions

open access: yesEMBO Journal, 2001
The ookinete surface proteins (P25 and P28) are proven antimalarial transmission-blocking vaccine targets, yet their biological functions are unknown. By using single (Sko) and double gene knock-out (Dko) Plasmodium berghei parasites, we show that P25 ...

Analysis of ‘Morning Breath’

Oral Diseases, 2005
The objective of the study was to identify the volatiles responsible for the smell of oral malodour, the so called ‘Morning Breath’ or halitosis. Therefore the breath of volunteers was trapped on different SPME fibers and on Carbotrap 300 and analysed by Thermodesorption‐GC‐MS and Thermodesorption‐GC‐Sniffing Detection.

P28 Optimising the analysis of the electroencephalogram in hepatic encephalopathy: Abstract P28 Table 1

Gut, 2010
Introduction Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is the commonest complication of cirrhosis. It has a detrimental effect on quality of life and on survival. Nevertheless, there is no recognised gold standard for its diagnosis.

Purification and Characterization of the Major Lipoprotein (P28) of Spiroplasma apis

Protein Expression and Purification, 2002
The plasma membrane of Spiroplasma apis contains a 28-kDa major protein (P28), like other spiroplasmas which also possess a main 26- to 28-kDa membrane polypeptide, called spiralin. In the work described here, we have developed a simple and efficient method for the purification of P28 of this mollicute, a wall-less eubacteria.

Pregnancy Hypertension, 2010
normalized platelet number. IL-6 and IL-10 levels did not show differences between L-NAME and silibinin groups. Histopathologic lesions in liver of the L-NAME group showed loss of polyedric shape of hepatocyte and acinar architecture. Intense mononuclear inflammatory infiltrate and thickening of muscle tunica of arterial vessel were observed mainly in ...

Identification and Analysis of MHV-A59 P28 Cleavage Site

1995
During translation of Murine hepatitis virus (MHV-A59) ORF1a, p28, the N-terminal polypeptide is cleaved from the growing polypeptide chain. Amino terminal radiosequencing of the resulting downstream cleavage product demonstrated that cleavage occurs between Gly247 and Val248.
