THE P300 EVENT RELATED POTENTIAL COMPONENT IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF DEMENTIA

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Medicine, 1988
AbstractSeveral studies have suggested that delays in the latency of the P300 ERP component are highly sensitive and specific to dementia and that ERP measurements may become a useful clinical tool in aiding diagnosis. This study examines the sensitivity of P300 measurements to dementia and addresses several methodological issues that limit previous ...

P300 variations in parkinsonian patients before and during dopaminergic monotherapy: a suggested dopamine component in P300

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology - Evoked Potentials, 1991
P300 was recorded, using an 'odd ball' paradigm, in 18 parkinsonian patients before and during dopaminergic monotherapy. The data were compared with those of a homogeneous standard group of 20 subjects. The main finding was an increase in the P300 latency of parkinsonian patients before therapy, which recovered during dopaminergic monotherapy.

The P300 ERP component: an index of cognitive dysfunction xin depression?

Journal of Affective Disorders, 1994
A number of measures of brain function have suggested that depression is associated with cerebral hypoactivity. This study examines the late components of the event-related potential (ERP), in particular the P300 component, in depression. The P300 component is thought to index the updating of neurocognitive models which are concerned with the ...

On the neural generators of the P300 component of the event‐related potential

Psychophysiology, 1993
AbstractThe triarchic model of P300 amplitude (Johnson, 1986, 1988a) postulated that the overall amplitude of the P300 recorded at any given electrode site represented the summation of activity from different neural generators, each related to the processing of a different type of information.

The P300 component in patients with Alzheimer's disease and their biological children

Biological Psychology, 2006
There are few studies examining P300 in the biological children of patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). In addition to examining P300 in patients with AD, the current study examined the utility of P300 as a preclinical marker in the offspring of AD patients.P300 was elicited from an AD group, their biological children, and two age- and gender ...

Subliminal visual oddball stimuli evoke a P300 component

Clinical Neurophysiology, 2001
To provide evidence that a P300 component can be elicited by subliminal stimuli in an oddball paradigm. The words LEFT and RIGHT were presented in a frequent-rare ratio (80-20%), counterbalanced between subjects. Stimuli were presented at the objective detection threshold (d'=0, via unmasked 1 ms presentations), a stringent measure for detecting any ...

Extraction of P300 using constrained independent component analysis

2009 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2009
A brain computer interface (BCI) uses electrophysiological activities of the brain such as natural rhythms and evoked potentials to communicate with some external devices. P300 is a positive evoked potential (EP), elicited approximately 300 ms after an attended external stimulus.

P300 component of event-related potentials in methamphetamine psychosis and schizophrenia

Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry, 1994
To examine psychophysiological features of MAP psychosis and schizophrenia, P300 component of event-related potentials during an oddball paradigm were recorded in 25 MAP psychotics and 25 schizophrenics. P300 component was evaluated using baseline-to-peak measurement and principal component analysis.

No Effect of Chronic Fenfluramine on the P300 Component of the Event-Related Potential

International Journal of Neuroscience, 1987
Five autistic children were administered a visual version of the oddball paradigm under both drug (chronic fenfluramine) and placebo conditions. The P300 component of the event-related potential (ERP) was not affected by fenfluramine, although the drug significantly lowered blood concentrations of serotonin.

Subcortical neuronal correlates of component P300 in man

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1991
Multiunit activity together with event-related potentials (ERP) were recorded from subcortical sites (the globus pallidus, the ventro-lateral nucleus of the thalamus and adjacent areas) in parkinsonian patients bearing electrodes for diagnosis and therapy.
