Pyrazole‐Derived Antibacterial Compounds Effectively Treat Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Infections by Inhibiting Aspartate Transcarbamoylase

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study unveils a novel antibacterial mechanism against MRSA, in which the compound Py‐27 selectively targets and inhibits aspartate transcarbamoylase (ATCase), a key enzyme in pyrimidine synthesis. This inhibition disrupts DNA replication, induces oxidative damage, leading to potent bactericidal activity.

F‐Type Pyocin Versus Phage λ Tail: Conserved Hub, Divergent Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Near‐atomic cryo‐EM structures of a Gram‐negative F‐type pyocin reveal a conserved tail tip architecture shared with bacteriophage λ together with a previously unrecognized side‐fiber attachment mode. These findings provide new insight into tailocin assembly and host recognition and establish a structural framework for engineering precision ...

Carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent P. aeruginosa coexpressing exoS/exoU in Brazil

open access: yesJournal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance
Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a ubiquitous organism with high clinical impact due to its intrinsic resistance to many antimicrobial drugs and ability to acquire antibiotic resistance and virulence genes.

Structure–Function Relationship of Aminopeptidase P from Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
PepP is a virulence-associated gene in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, making it an attractive target for anti-P. aeruginosa drug development. The encoded protein, aminopeptidases P (Pa-PepP), is a type of X-prolyl peptidase that possesses diverse biological ...

Phagetherapies for infections caused by P. aeruginosa

open access: yes, 2013
The hospital infections can be prevented by controlling some factors related with staff, material, and environment. At this moment the existing legislation regulates procedures that prevent the propagation of the infection and/or of the agents that ...

Convergence of Plasmid‐Mediated tmexCD‐toprJ With Critical Resistance Genes Fuels Spread of Multidrug Resistant Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Global dissemination of tmexCD‐toprJ across bacterial hosts and ecological niches is accompanied by its convergence with blaKPC, blaNDM, and mcr on mobile plasmids. Recombination and acquisition of resistance modules generate distinct multidrug resistant plasmid architectures, facilitating the emergence and spread of high‐risk bacterial populations ...

Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm formers in drinking water

open access: yes, 2023
Currently there has been an increase in demand for bottled water, this is due to the population’s dissatisfaction with the quality of water provided by public agencies. The present study sought to evaluate the presence of biofilm-forming P. aeruginosa in

One‐Step Immobilized Phage Depolymerase Coatings for Catheter‐Related Bloodstream Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Catheter‐related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) caused by drug‐resistant Gram‐negative bacteria remain a major clinical challenge. Here, a polydopamine‐assisted depolymerase coating degrades bacterial capsules and restores serum‐mediated killing, effectively suppressing biofilms and reducing bacterial burden in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo, presenting a

Analysis of susceptibility profile of Pseudomonas spp. and prevalence of bacterial samples from the surfaces of dental consulting-rooms

open access: yesRevista de Ciências Farmacêuticas Básica e Aplicada, 2005
The aim of this research was to evaluate the susceptibility profile of Pseudomonas spp. and the prevalence of bacterial samples isolated from horizontal surfaces surrounding wash-basins used by dentists in several adjoined consulting-rooms, at points ...

Targeting the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase Axis With Hybrid Nanovesicles Restores Macrophage Rhythms to Reverse Sepsis‐Induced Immunosuppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis disrupts immune‐cell rhythms and weakens bacterial clearance. Biomimetic nanovesicles combining erythrocyte and inflammation‐activated macrophage membranes deliver siNR1D1 to dysfunctional macrophages, restoring the NR1D1–IGF2BP2–V‐ATPase pathway, circadian regulation, phagolysosomal acidification, and antimicrobial defense.
