Effect of Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) on Calcareous Nannofossils in the Pabdeh Formation, Izeh Zone in Zagros Basin

2023
In this study, the sediments of the Pabdeh Formation in the Tange Lendeh section, with a thickness of 58 meters, are composed of purple shales and argillaceous limestones with chert and gray marl layers. A total of 56 calcareous nannofossil species, belonging to 22 genera from 13 families, were recognized in this strata.

Promoting wellbore stability in active shale formations by water-based muds: A case study in Pabdeh shale, Southwestern Iran

Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, 2018
Abstract Minimizing water invasion into shales is a critical property for many water-based muds. By improving drilling fluids rheology in HPHT conditions, it is possible to minimize water invasion and maintain true overbalance pressure conditions at near wellbore scale which endorses wellbore stability.

Regional stratigraphic architecture and reservoir types of the Oligo-Miocene deposits in the Dezful Embayment (Asmari and Pabdeh Formations) SW Iran

Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 2010
Abstract A regional sequence stratigraphic model is proposed for the Oligo-Miocene Asmari and Pabdeh Formations in the Dezful Embayment of SW Iran. The model is based on both new detailed sedimentological observations in outcrops, core and well logs, and an improved high-resolution chronostratigraphic framework constrained by Sr isotope ...

INVESTIGATION OF THE HYDROCARBON-GENERATION POTENTIAL OF THE PABDEH FORMATION IN THE SOUTHWEST OF IRAN

TMP Universal Journal of Research and Review Archives
Nowadays, Rock-Eval pyrolysis and its results are commonly used to determine and interpret the characteristics of depositional basins. This study aims to investigate the hydrocarbon-generation potential of the Pabdeh Formation by using the Rock-Eval analysis method in the southwest zone.

Microfacies, geochemical characters and possible mechanism of rhythmic deposition of the Pabdeh Formation in SE Ilam (SW Iran)

2018
Rhythmical alternations between limestone and marls characterize the Pabdeh Formation, southwestern Iran. Three intervals of these rhythmites were studied using sedimentary, petrography and geochemical parameters analysis, to unravel the possible mechanisms responsible for the origin of these rhythmites.

Using Rock Eval Pyrolysis for Studying the Hydrocarbon Potential of the Pabdeh Formation in Ziluee Oilfield, South West of Iran

Petroleum Science and Technology, 2014
The author discusses the hydrocarbon potential of Pabdeh formation in Ziluee oilfield, in southwest Iran. The research was focused on characterization of this formation based on Rock-Eval (RE) pyrolysis, which is an effective instrument for analyzing probable source rock. Various diagrams were employed for interpreting the raw outputs of RE.
