LQG control with Markovian packet loss

2013 European Control Conference (ECC), 2013
This paper is concerned with the optimal LQG control of a system through lossy data networks. In particular we will focus on the case where control commands are issued to the system over a communication network where packets may be randomly dropped according to a two-state Markov chain. Under these assumptions, the optimal finite-horizon LQG problem is

A Comprehensive Analysis of Packet Loss in MANETs

2018 17th IEEE International Conference On Trust, Security And Privacy In Computing And Communications/ 12th IEEE International Conference On Big Data Science And Engineering (TrustCom/BigDataSE), 2018
Security schemes proposed for for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) based on node's trust computation consider packet drop as a sign of misbehaving from malicious nodes. However, this may not be always true because of node mobility and limited processing capability feature of nodes in MANETs. As nodes are free to move in MANETs, packet loss may occur due

Characterizing Packet Losses in Vehicular Networks

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2019
To enable testing and performance evaluation of new connected and autonomous driving functions, it is important to characterize packet losses caused by degradation in vehicular (V2X) communication channels. In this paper we suggest an approach to constructing packet loss models based on the so-called Pseudo-Markov chains (PMC).

On end-to-end analysis of packet loss

Computer Communications, 2003
End-to-end analysis of packet loss is presented, addressing both overall packet loss rate and loss correlations. Voice over IP is used as an application for which packet loss performance is analyzed. In addition to independent packet losses, concepts of temporal and spatial- or across-the-domain-correlations are analyzed and their applicability to end ...

A comparison of packet loss compensation methods and interleaving for speech recognition in burst-like packet loss

Interspeech 2004, 2004
This work compares the performance of three compensation methods for speech recognition in the presence of packet loss. Two methods, cubic interpolation and a novel maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation, aim to restore the feature vector stream in the event of packet loss, while the third technique applies compensation in the decoding stage of ...

Packet Loss and Concealment

2017
Transmission over real-world networks will occasionally suffer from transmission errors, which can significantly deteriorate the perceived quality of a speech codec. This chapter addresses the problem of transmission errors in packet based voice applications, such as voice over Internet protocol (VoIP).

Adaptive packet parity coding for loss-packet recovery

2009 IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing, 2009
An adaptive packet parity coding is proposed for recovering the loss packets over packet loss network links. For every (n-1) packets of data, this coding scheme transmits an error-correcting packet that contains the XOR of the previous (n-1) packets of data.

Analysis of audio packet loss in the internet

1995
We consider the problem of distributing audio data over networks such as the Internet that do not provide support for real-time applications. Experiments with such networks indicate that audio quality is mediocre in large part because of excessive audio packet losses.

Evaluation of packet loss probability in Bluetooth networks

2002 IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Proceedings. ICC 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37333), 2003
We provide a closed-form expression for the packet loss probability in Bluetooth networks accounting for capture effects due to propagation losses. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is assessed comparing the analytical results with those obtained from Monte Carlo simulations.

Packet Loss Analysis in Mobile IP

2004
Packet loss and packet disorder are two important factors which badly affect handoff performance of Mobile IP. In this paper, we study their probabilities in the case of cell overlap and no overlap, and use these results to optimize the radius of overlap region. In addition, some illustrations show that our model conforms to our observation perfectly.
