Increasing Gas–Solids Mass Transfer in Fluidized Beds by Application of Confined Fluidization—A Feasibility Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Fluidized bed applications where the bed material plays an active role in chemical reactions, e.g. chemical looping combustion, have seen an increase in interest over the past decade.

The Packing Density of Other Layered Permutations [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2002
In this paper the packing density of various layered permutations is calculated, thus solving some problems suggested by Albert, Atkinson, Handley, Holton $\&$ Stromquist [Electron. J. Combin. 9 (2002), $\#$R5]. Specifically, the density is found for layered permutations of type $[m_1, \ldots, m_r]$ when $\log(r+1)\le \min\{ m_i\}$.

Packing coefficient determining the packing density difference of CHON-containing isomers

open access: yesEnergetic Materials Frontiers
Packing density is a basic property of substances and acts as one of important decisive factors of service performances. This work focuses upon the determining factors of packing density at the premise of CHON-containing isomers with the same chemical ...

Development and Gravel Packing Test of Screen with Gravel Packing Channel and Automatic Inflow Control Valve

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2020
Only light ceramsite can be used for conventional flow regulating water control screens due to the throttling effect of the flow control device, resulting in unstable gravel packing performance.

Sphere Packings in 212 Dimensions

open access: yesAxioms
This paper investigates cylindrical sphere packings, that is, patterns of uniform spheres with mutually disjoint interiors which are all tangent to a common cylinder.

The Packing Density of the $$n$$ n -Dimensional Cross-Polytope [PDF]

open access: yesDiscrete & Computational Geometry, 2015
The packing density of the regular cross-polytope in Euclidean $n$-space is unknown except in dimensions $2$ and $4$ where it is 1. The only non-trivial upper bound is due to Gravel, Elser, and Kallus (2011) who proved that for $n=3$ the packing density of the regular octahedron is at most $1-1.4\ldots\times 10^{-12}$.

Selection Results of Solid Material for Horizontal and Highly-Deviated Well Completion Gravel-Packing: Experiments, Numerical Simulation and Proposal

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Lightweight and ultra-lightweight solid materials are being used in gravel packing for horizontal wells instead of traditional quartz and ceramsite to decrease the risk of premature plugging and improve packing efficiency.

Numerical estimation of natural ventilation of cubical urban arrays with different packing density

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
In an urban environment where buildings are closely packed, natural ventilation performance is undesirably disturbed by the effect of surrounding buildings.

Experimental investigation of the effect of grain morphology on packing density of granular assemblies [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The physical and mechanical properties of granular media at the macro scale are greatly influenced by the morphology of its grains at the micro-scale. The morphology of grains is a multi-level property, with the morphological features at each level being

Impact of Packing Density on the Bacterial Community, Fermentation, and In Vitro Digestibility of Whole-Crop Barley Silage

open access: yesAgriculture, 2021
Packing density has a significant influence on the outcome of ensiling forage. In this study, we aim to investigate the effect of packing density on the ensiling properties, microbiome, and in vitro digestibility of barley silages.
