The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

The Influence of Plate and Blanket Cylinder Packing on Print Quality and Plate Wear in Sheet-Fed Lithographic Offset Machines [PDF]

open access: yesERU Research Journal
To guarantee image quality transfer in the lithographic offset printing process, there are some parameters that can be considered as direct influences, including dot gain, slurring, density, and plate wear.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Packing density of cementitious materials: Measurement and modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Packing density has great effect on the performance of a concrete mix. However, little research has been carried out on the packing density of cementitious materials owing to the lack of an established measurement method. Herein, a new method, called the

Investigation of the experiment and simulation on TiH2 powder packing by a novel irregular 3D model

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2021
Density and porosity have an important influence on powder metallurgy products, and it is feasible to predict the tap density of powder by simulating the packing of powder.

On the Molecular Packing Density in Crystalline Polymers [PDF]

open access: yesPolymer Journal, 1975
Values of coefficients of crystalline packing density, Kc, calculated for a large number of polymers with chain backbones consisting of single carbon—carbon, carbon—oxygen, etc., bonds, exhibit strong dependence on polymer chain conformation in the crystalline state.
