Sex differences in low‐dose ethanol effects on motivated behavior and limbic corticostriatal activity in mice

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, Volume 50, Issue 2, February 2026.
Chronic, low‐dose ethanol exposure increased behavioral sensitivity to small changes in reward magnitude in female, but not male, mice. Chronic low‐dose ethanol also altered cFos expression within the prelimbic cortex and projections to the accumbens.
