The Chemical Diversity of the Ascomycete Fungus Paecilomyces variotii

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2015
Paecilomyces variotii isolated from a broad range of habitats drives the diversification of new high-value-added secondary metabolites that could potentially play an important role in human and animal health. These metabolites include the anhydride metabolite of the nonadride family, as well as the following compounds: naphthopyranone metabolites ...

Biotransformation of p-coumaric acid by Paecilomyces variotii

Letters in Applied Microbiology, 2006
To investigate the biotransformation of p-coumaric acid into p-hydroxybenzoic acid (p-HBA) by Paecilomyces variotii Bainier MTCC 6581.As a result of p-coumaric acid degradation by P. variotii, three phenolic metabolites, p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (p-HBAld), p-HBA and protocatechuic acid were formed. These phenolics were detected using TLC and HPLC.

Tannase production by Paecilomyces variotii

Bioresource Technology, 2007
Surface response methodology was applied to the optimization of the laboratory scale production of tannase using a lineage of Paecilomyces variotii. A preliminary study was conducted to evaluate the effects of variables, including temperature ( degrees C), residue (%) (coffee husk:wheat bran), tannic acid (%) and salt solutions (%) on the production of

Hyalohyphomycosis caused by Paecilomyces variotii in an obstetrical patient

European Journal of Epidemiology, 1996
A case of hyalohyphomycosis, caused by Paecilomyces variotii, has been described in a 31-year-old female, who had undergone a cesarean section in her 39th week of pregnancy for a trial of labour. Five days following delivery, she complained of sharp, cramp-like pains, localized to the incisional site. She became febrile (38.2 degrees C).

Paecilomyces variotii: An Unusual Cause of Isolated Sphenoid Sinusitis

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1988
Isolated fungal sphenoid sinusitis is an unusual head and neck infection. We describe the first reported case (to our knowledge) of Paecilomyces variotii sphenoid sinusitis. In addition, it represents one of the few reported cases of isolated fungal sphenoid sinusitis. Diagnosis and management of this condition are described.

Paecilomyces variotii in a pediatric patient with lung transplantation

Pediatric Transplantation, 2000
Abstract: Aspergillus has been noted to be the most common species of filamentous fungus isolated from the airways of lung transplantation (Tx) patients. In general, the bronchi are colonized asymptomatically with Aspergillus but this places such a patient population at greater risk of invasive infection.

Biofiltration of BTEX by the fungus Paecilomyces variotii

International Biodeterioration & Biodegradation, 2008
Abstract Benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes, known collectively as BTEX, are widespread contaminants, commonly found in soil, aquifers, and the atmosphere. BTEX degradation was evaluated as separate substrates and in mixtures, in liquid culture, and in packed biofilters with the filamentous fungus Paecilomyces variotii CBS115145.

Paecilomyces variotii peritonitis in an infant on automated peritoneal dialysis

Pediatric Nephrology, 2000
Fungal peritonitis is a serious complication of chronic peritoneal dialysis (CPD) and is frequently associated with CPD drop-out. Paecilomyces variotii, a common saprophytic fungus, rarely causes human infection. To date, only nine adult or adolescent patients with P.
