Diuretic Action of Paeonol

Planta Medica, 1985
Effects of paeonol, a major component of the root bark of PAEONIA SUFFRUTICOSA, on urinary excretion of water (UV), sodium (U Na V), potassium (U K V), chloride (U cl V) and osmolality (U osm V) were investigated in bicarbonate saline loaded rats. Paeonol at the doses of 62.5 to 250 mg/kg p.o. produced dose-dependent increases in UV, U Na V and U

Metabolism of Paeonol in Rats

Journal of Natural Products, 1999
As a part of our studies on the metabolism of active components from traditional Chinese medicines, paeonol was orally administered to rats. The urinary metabolites were analyzed by 3D HPLC, and their structures were determined to be 2, 4-dihydroxyacetophenone-5-O-sulfate (P1), resacetophenone-2-O-sulfate (P2), 2-hydroxy-4-methoxyacetophenone-5-O ...

Paeonol: pharmacological effects and mechanisms of action

International Immunopharmacology, 2019
Paeonia suffruticosa possesses various medicinal benefits and has been used extensively in traditional oriental medicine for thousands of years. Paeonol is the main component isolated from the root bark of Paeonia suffruticosa. The pharmacological effects of Paeonia suffruticosa are mostly attributed to paeonol.

Anxiolytic-like effect of paeonol in mice

Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior, 2005
The present study in mice compared the putative anxiolytic-like effect of paeonol, a phenolic component from the root bark of Paeonia moutan, with the benzodiazepine diazepam in the elevated plus maze and the light/dark box-test. The comparison was also with regard to locomotor activity (open-field test) and myorelaxant potential (inclined plane test).

Vascular dilation by paeonol — A mechanism study

Vascular Pharmacology, 2010
The goal of this study was to investigate the mechanism underlaying the vasodilatory effect of paeonol, a major active element from the root bark of Chinese herbs Paeonia suffruticosa Andr. and Cynanchum paniculatum (Bunge) Kitagawa. Paeonol relaxed isolated rat aorta rings by 95.6% while the 10(-6) M forskolin-induced vasodilatation used as 100%.

Study on the pharmacokinetics and metabolism of paeonol in rats treated with pure paeonol and an herbal preparation containing paeonol by using HPLC–DAD-MS method

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2008
Paeonol, a principal bioactive component of the Chinese herb Moutan Cortex with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, was comparatively studied to determine its pharmacokinetic behavior and metabolic profile in rat following oral administration of the pure paeonol alone and an herbal preparation "Qingfu Guanjieshu" (QFGJS) containing paeonol.
