Safety of Venom Immunotherapy in Pregnancy: A Multicentre Study

Venom immunotherapy (VIT) during pregnancy, when maintenance dose is well tolerated, can be continued. No increased risk of adverse effects to VIT or safety concerns for the pregnancy or the newborns were observed. No decreased efficacy of VIT, in case of re‐stings, was reported.

ABSTRACT Basophils, the least abundant leukocytes, are increasingly recognised as potent immunomodulators. Upon activation, they rapidly release preformed granule‐associated mediators including histamine and lipid mediators such as LTC4, while cytokine production occurs over a longer timescale, contributing to downstream immune responses.

PAF-acetylhydrolase activity and PAF levels in pancreas and plasma of well-fed, diabetic and fasted rat

PAF-AH activity was determined in pancreas homogenates. The enzyme activity was moderately stable upon storage at -20°C. PAF and lyso-PAF were identified in rat pancreas and their concentrations were determined.
