Temperature thresholds for cutaneous pain

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1959
Thresholds for pricking pain, as well as withdrawal points and endurance limens, were measured in 40 untrained subjects. The measurements were made in terms of the instantaneous temperature of the skin during thermal irradiation. The thresholds were lower and more variable for these subjects than for highly trained ones. They varied with the region of

Effect of Arachnoiditis on Pain Threshold

Investigative Radiology, 1987
A model for studying the relationship between chronic arachnoiditis and pain sensitivity was developed. Thirty male ICR mice were randomly divided into three groups and the tail-flick test was done using an EMDIE-TF6 apparatus (Emdie Instrument Co., Montpelier, VA).

Pain thresholds in women with chronic pelvic pain

Current Opinion in Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2014
To update on the latest developments in sensory changes of female patients with chronic pelvic pain (CPP). CPP is very common, but its pathophysiology is still controversial. Evaluation of pain sensitivity in painful and nonpainful areas is key to understanding the underlying peripheral vs. central contributions to the symptom.

The Effect of Thiabendazole on Pain Threshold

Acta Pharmacologica et Toxicologica, 1985
Abstract:Thiabendazole significantly increased the reaction time to thermal stimulus. However, in mice treated with morphine, the reaction time was not in any way different from those treated with combined doses of thiabendazole and morphine. Thiabendazole was found to have an antinociceptive action. The protective dose for 50% of animal (ED50) against

Pain threshold in man

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, 1992
The design and application of an apparatus for measuring pain threshold by controlling the conditions of an experiment carefully and measuring stimulus and response parameters precisely are described. Heat generated by an incandescent source, focused on a small area of the subject's forehead, was used as the stimulus to determine the cutaneous pain ...
