Basic properties of palm oil biodiesel–diesel blends

Fuel, 2008
Abstract The basic properties of several palm oil biodiesel–diesel fuel blends were measured according to the corresponding ASTM standards. In order to predict these properties, mixing rules are evaluated as a function of the volume fraction of biodiesel in the blend.

Alkaline Catalytic Transesterification for Palm Oil Biodiesel and Characterisation of Palm Oil Biodiesel

Journal of Biofuels, 2013
Biodiesel produced by the transesterification of vegetable oils, waste cooking oils and animal fats, is a promising alternative fuel for diesel engines due to fossil fuel depletion and environmental degradation. Biodiesel was prepared from palm oil by transesterification of the crude oil with methanol in the presence of NaOH as catalyst.

Potential of palm oil for biodiesel production

Energy Sources, Part B: Economics, Planning, and Policy, 2017
ABSTRACTThis paper studies the potential of palm oil for producing biodiesel. In the analytical procedures, the demand of diesel in a country is reviewed and illustrated based on a set of previous data dating back 17 years from 1993 to 2009. The reviewed data are then compared with the demands of palm oil, B5, B100, and with GDP in a country.

Optimization of biodiesel production by transesterification of palm oil and evaluation of biodiesel quality

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021
Abstract The energy demand for the world is rising rapidly and standard sources of energy are going to face the chances of exploitation. Uncontrolled emissions, huge price rise etc promotes the search for new substitute fuel in diesel engines. Processed form of palm oil(biodiesel) provides an attractive green alternative fuel to CI engines. Esters of

Experimental evaluation of the transesterification of waste palm oil into biodiesel

Bioresource Technology, 2002
Transesterified vegetable oils (VOs) are promising alternative diesel fuel. Waste VOs are cheap and renewable but currently disposed of inadequately. In this work, waste palm oil was transesterified under various conditions. H2SO4 and different concentrations of HCl and ethanol at different excess levels were used. Higher catalyst concentrations (1.5-2.

Rubber Seed/Palm Oil Biodiesel

2018
The use of a clean fuel such as biodiesel has both environmental and economic advantages. The environmental advantage is reduced emissions, whereas the economic benefit stems from local availability of raw material and improved energy security. Currently most of biodiesel production comes from edible sources such as soybean, palm and sunflower oils ...

Enzymatic Synthesis of Biodiesel via Alcoholysis of Palm Oil

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2008
The enzymatic alcoholysis of crude palm oil with methanol and ethanol was investigated using commercial immobilized lipases (Lipozyme RM IM, Lipozyme TL IM). The effect of alcohol (methanol or ethanol), molar ratio of alcohol to crude palm oil, and temperature on biodiesel production was determined.

Enhanced enzymatic transesterification of palm oil to biodiesel

Biochemical Engineering Journal, 2011
Abstract Inefficient reaction is one of the drawbacks for the enzymatic production of biodiesel (BD). A method for enhanced Novozym 435-catalyzed transesterification of palm oil (PO) to BD using a mixture of methanol and methyl acetate (MA) as acyl acceptors has been developed. BD yield using methanol–MA mixture reached 95–96% after 8 h at a methanol

Oil palm biodiesel: Brazil's main challenges

Energy, 2013
Abstract The National Program for Production and Use of Biodiesel (PNPB), launched in Brazil, is based on the diversification of its feedstock and social inclusion. Among the various oilseeds, palm was identified as the ideal one for the Northern region. However, the participation of palm is still not representative in the Brazilian biodiesel matrix.

Diesel Combustion Characteristics of Coconut Oil and Palm Oil Biodiesels

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2006
<div class="htmlview paragraph">In order to determine the usefulness of coconut and palm oil biodiesels as alternative diesel fuel, the fuel properties, the combustion characteristics and the exhaust emissions were investigated. Therefore, the methyl esters of coconut, palm and rapeseed oils (CME, PME and RME) and the ethyl ester of palm and ...
