Rotational grazing and exclosure improves grassland condition of the halophytic steppe in Flooding Pampa (Argentina) compared with continuous grazing

open access: yesThe Rangeland journal, 2019
The most common grazing management applied on rangelands is continuous grazing. However, it can cause negative changes in vegetation structure and ecosystem functioning, leading to rangeland degradation. In Flooding Pampa rangelands, scientific evidence

Description and terrestrial ages of the Calama Area Meteorite Collection (Atacama Desert, Chile)

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We present a comprehensive study of a meteorite collection from the Atacama Desert (Chile), the driest and most climatically stable desert in the world. This collection includes meteorites from three adjacent Dense Collection Areas (DCAs) in the northern part of the Atacama Desert: Calama, Sierra Gorda, and Chug Chug, referred to as the ...

A Century of Understanding and Harnessing Heterosis

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heterosis has shaped modern plant breeding since Darwin's 19th century observations that outcrossing restores vigour lost through selfing. While 100 years old, its mechanistic basis and deployability remain actively debated. Classical models of dominance, overdominance and epistasis provided the foundation for hybrid breeding and converted ...

Keratinocytes exposed to ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B radiation induce responses in melanocytes

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Keratinocyte‐derived soluble factors regulate melanocyte responses following UV exposure. Conditioned medium from irradiated keratinocytes enhances melanocyte mitochondrial activity, cell proliferation, and cell cycle progression while improving survival after UVA‐induced damage.

Cenozoic tropical carbonate platforms in the Santos Basin, SE Brazilian Margin

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tropical carbonate platforms accompanied the latitudinal shifts of the tropical belt throughout the Cenozoic. Their flat‐topped geometries were influenced by a specific set of processes, including climate and sea‐level changes, carbonate facies, tectonics and continental runoff.

Freshwater Biodiversity Research in Brazil: Trends from a Systematic Review and Topic Modeling

open access: yesInternational Review of Hydrobiology, Volume 111, Issue 2, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Brazil is a megadiverse country that hosts six major biomes and a vast freshwater network. Despite this richness, research on freshwater biodiversity has been heterogeneous across regions, communities, and time, leaving significant knowledge gaps.

Pampa Azul

Acute Foot Warming Enhances Plantar Tactile Sensitivity With Limited Postural Control Effects in Obese Older Adults

open access: yesPhysiotherapy Research International, Volume 31, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Purpose Interventions to enhance tactile sensitivity, such as warming the feet, positively affect skin sensitivity with varying influence on postural control. Here, we hypothesize that foot warming may benefit tactile sensitivity and postural control in older adults, particularly those with obesity.
