A severity‐based tumor‐superior mesenteric/portal vein interface grading criteria as a predictor of survival outcomes in pancreatic head ductal adenocarcinoma patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy following neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
PDAC patients with the radiological severe interface (≥25 contact length and ≥210 degrees circumferential tumor‐SMV/PV interface) may help predict poor survival outcomes preoperatively. Abstract Aim To assess the ability of a new severity‐based tumor‐superior mesenteric/portal vein interface criteria to predict survival outcomes in pancreatic ductal ...

OUTCOME OF SECOND PANCREAS TRANSPLANTATION IN PATIENTS WITH PREVIOUS SIMULTANEOUS KIDNEY AND PANCREAS TRANSPLANTATION COMPARED TO PATIENTS WITH PREVIOUS KIDNEY ALONE TRANSPLANTATION [PDF]

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2007
There had been few if any study for second pancreas transplant outcome and consequences in patients with simultaneous kidney pancreas transplant after failure of the first pancreas allograft.

M3BUNet: Mobile Mean Max UNet for Pancreas Segmentation on CT-Scans [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Segmenting organs in CT scan images is a necessary process for multiple downstream medical image analysis tasks. Currently, manual CT scan segmentation by radiologists is prevalent, especially for organs like the pancreas, which requires a high level of domain expertise for reliable segmentation due to factors like small organ size, occlusion, and ...

Line graphs and the transplantation method [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We study isospectrality for mixed Dirichlet-Neumann boundary conditions, and extend the previously derived graph-theoretic formulation of the transplantation method. Led by the theory of Brownian motion, we introduce vertex-colored and edge-colored line graphs that give rise to block diagonal transplantation matrices.

International Comparison of Geriatric‐Associated Variables in Major Gastroenterological Surgery Between National Clinical Database and American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Geriatric surgical risk factors and outcomes were compared between the US and Japanese databases. Geriatric‐associated preoperative variables and outcomes similarly increased with age. Mobility and functional domains differed between the two databases. ABSTRACT Backgrounds Incidence of malignant disease in older patients has been increasing.

FIRST NATIONAL EXPERIENCE OF RETROPERITONEAL PANCREAS TRANSPLANTATION WITH THE FORMATION OF DUODENO-DUODENAL ANASTOMOSIS

open access: yesВестник трансплантологии и искусственных органов, 2013
Simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation is a valid therapeutic option for patients with type 1 diabetes mel- litus (DM) and secondary diabetic nephropathy, which enables to achieve an insulin-independent euglycemic state with normalization of ...

Vascularised pancreas transplantation [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ, 1996
In vascularised pancreas transplantation the organ is transplanted as a whole (as opposed to islet cell transplantation, which is still experimental). The procedure re-establishes endogenous secretion of insulin that is responsive to normal feedback controls and is currently the only known treatment for diabetes that reliably achieves a euglycaemic ...

Multi‐Module Micro/Nanorobots for Biomedical and Environmental Remediation Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Multi‐module microrobots (MNRs) have overcome the limitations of single‐module systems by integrating components such as propeller, actuator, manipulator, and imaging modalities. They show promise in biomedical applications, such as targeted drug delivery and tissue repair, as well as in environmental remediation, including pollutant removal.
