Prognostic value of clinical parameters and exosomal lncRNA NEAT1_1 in MEN1‐related non‐functioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
Abstract Non‐functioning pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NF‐pNETs) significantly contribute to the premature death of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) patients. Reliable prognostic markers are not yet available. MicroRNAs (miRNA) and long‐non‐coding (lnc) RNAs, transported by extracellular vesicles, are emerging as new prognostic tools ...

Controversies in NEN: An ENETS position statement on the endoscopic management of localised gastric, duodenal and rectal neuroendocrine neoplasms

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
Abstract Gastric, duodenal and rectal neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) are increasingly detected due to advances in endoscopic imaging. While international guidelines provide criteria for endoscopic management, several aspects remain controversial due to limited high‐quality evidence.

Photodynamic therapy of cancer‐associated infections

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
Pathogens can be involved in tumor initiation, promotion and progression through different mechanisms, and their treatment can prevent new cancer cases, improve outcomes, and revert poor‐prognostic phenotypes. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) successfully treats different types of cancers and infections, and, therefore, has a unique potential to address ...

Proposal for a New Classification of Rare Cancers Adopting Updated Histological Tumor Types

open access: yesPathology International, EarlyView.
We propose a new rare cancer classification system using the updated International Classification of Diseases for Oncology 3.2 coding system and the World Health Organization Classification of Tumors 5th edition. This list could serve as a diagnostic classifier to reliably distinguish various rare cancers for clinical applications.

Adequacy evaluation of 22‐gauge needle endoscopic ultrasound‐guided tissue acquisition samples and glass slides preparation for successful comprehensive genomic profiling testing: A single institute experience

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
Abstract Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the successful sequencing rate of Foundation One CDx (F1CDx) using small tissue samples obtained with a 22‐gauge needle (22G) through endoscopic ultrasound‐guided fine needle acquisition (EUS‐TA) and to propose guidelines for tissue quantity evaluation criteria and proper slide preparation in clinical ...

Diagnosis and treatment of gastric abscess by endoscopic ultrasound: A mini‐review of the preliminary application

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
Abstract Gastric abscess is a rare condition caused by gastric barrier damage. It is easily misdiagnosed in clinical practice as a cancer recurrence or submucosal tumor, especially after surgery or endoscopic submucosal dissection. With a relatively high mortality rate, the cause and clinical characteristics of gastric abscesses are obscure.

Aquaporins in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

APMIS, 2021
Aquaporins are water channel proteins facilitating passive transport of water across cellular membranes. Aquaporins are over‐ or ectopically expressed in a multitude of cancers, including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, which is a highly aggressive cancer with low survival rate. Evidence suggests that aquaporins can affect multiple cellular processes

Microbiome and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

Clinics and Research in Hepatology and Gastroenterology, 2021
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) incidence and related-deaths are increasing worldwide. PDAC is characterized by poor prognosis due to late diagnosis, high metastatic capacity and resistance to therapy. This is partially due to its specific microenvironment, where the stroma is prominent over tumor cells. Besides the oral and gut microbiota, the

Immunotherapy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2021
AbstractPancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains a lethal cancer with an urgent need for better medical therapies. Efforts have been made to investigate the efficacy of immunotherapy, particularly given the hallmarks of immune suppression and exhaustion in PDAC tumors.

Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

2020
The most frequent indication for pancreatic fine-needle aspiration sampling is to confirm or exclude a pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). PDAC is the most common malignant neoplasm of the pancreas, and the term pancreatic cancer typically connotes this entity.
