Fluorometric assay for pancreatic lipase.
Abstract We report a new fluorometric assay in which a fluorescent triglyceride is used for determining lipase activity in serum, and we compare it with turbidimetric and radiometric methods. Because this fluorometric method is at least 50-fold more sensitive than the turbidimetric method, we have been able to develop a micromethod that ...

Clinical efficacy of serum lipase subtype analysis for the differential diagnosis of pancreatic and non-pancreatic lipase elevation. [PDF]
Background/Aims: Non-pancreatic elevations of serum lipase have been reported, and differential diagnosis is necessary for clinical practice. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of serum lipase subtype analysis for the differential ...

Abstract A 3‐year‐old male with chronic abdominal distention, constipation, and severe malnutrition is diagnosed with pediatric intestinal pseudo‐obstruction (PIPO) after extensive evaluation that excluded mechanical, malabsorptive, metabolic, inflammatory, and infectious causes. Aside from speech delay, he has a normal neurologic exam.

Lipase activity in vesicular systems: Characterization of candida cylindracea lipase and its activity in polymerizable dialkylammonium surfactant vesicles [PDF]
Lipase from Candida cylindracea (CCL) was incorporated into polymerizable positively charged dialkylammonium bromide surfactant vesicles. The enzyme was incorporated by the use of the dehydration-rehydration method or by incubation.

Electrophoretic Fractionation of Pancreatic Lipase
Abstract Human pancreatic isolipases were separated by electrophoresis on cellulose acetate membrane. Band visualization by fluorescence detection of NADH produced by beta-oxidation cyclic reaction of fatty acid liberated from 1,2-dilinoleoylglycerol by lipase was achieved by making a two-plate "sandwich" of an electrophoresis plate and ...

Measuring Peripheral Tissue DHA Turnover Using a Novel 13C Enrichment Technique
ABSTRACT Recently, through the use of compound‐specific isotope analysis (CSIA), our lab validated the utility of 13C enrichment (δ13C) of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) by using a very high δ13C in a diet switch study by measuring brain, liver, and plasma DHA turnover and half‐lives via high‐precision gas chromatography combustion isotope ratio mass ...

Pancreatic adaptive responses in alcohol abuse: Role of the unfolded protein response. [PDF]
The majority of those who drink excessive amounts of alcohol do not develop pancreatic disease. One overarching hypothesis is that alcohol abuse requires additional risk factors, either environmental or genetic, for disease to occur.

Homopolyester from Radical Ring‐Opening‐Polymerisation (RROP) have been applied in nanoprecipitation to form nanoparticles for drug delivery. These nanoparticles are stable over various weeks and showed no toxicity. Encapsulated Coumarine has been delivered to cells to show the full potential of these biodegradable delivery systems from RROP.

Stable and biocompatible PCDA‐PGA nanoparticles for real‐time tracking in biological assays, efficiently taken up by MCF7 cells and nematodes. ABSTRACT This study presents novel mixed nanosystems composed of 10,12‐pentacosadiynoic acid (PCDA) and biodegradable, enzymatically synthesized polymers—PGA, PGAHEX, or PGABDM — designed to alter and exploit ...
