Biochemical properties of pancreatic colipase from the common stingray Dasyatis pastinaca

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2011
Background Pancreatic colipase is a required co-factor for pancreatic lipase, being necessary for its activity during hydrolysis of dietary triglycerides in the presence of bile salts.

Health Benefits of Polysaccharides in Red Algae: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract showing the health benefits of red algal polysaccharides. ABSTRACT Humans have long consumed red algae (especially by the Asian community), and their polysaccharide extracts (carrageenan, agar) are extensively used in the food industry as gel thickeners.

Studies on the inhibition of pancreatic and microbial lipases by soybean proteins.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1984
A protein, molecular weight 70,000 that inhibits pancreatic lipase has been isolated from soybean seeds. Inhibition is not reversed by colipase unless bile salts are added to the assay system.

A Phase II Basket Trial of Dual Anti-CTLA-4 and Anti-PD-1 Blockade in Rare Tumors (DART SWOG 1609) in Patients with Nonpancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
PurposeImmune checkpoint blockade has improved outcomes across tumor types; little is known about the efficacy of these agents in rare tumors. We report the results of the (nonpancreatic) neuroendocrine neoplasm cohort of SWOG S1609 dual anti-CTLA-4 and ...

The common truncation variant in pancreatic lipase related protein 2 (PNLIPRP2) is expressed poorly and does not alter risk for chronic pancreatitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A nonsense variant (p.W358X) of human pancreatic lipase related protein 2 (PNLIPRP2) is present in different ethnic populations with a high allele frequency.

Marine n‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids Mitigate Obesity Traits Through PRDM16‐Driven Gene–Nutrient Interaction and Spatiotemporal Scale Browning Process

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
This large cohort study of 45,664 participants from the UK Biobank provides strong epidemiological evidence that fish oil use was associated with 12% and 7% lower risks of obesity and high body fat percentage, respectively. Mechanistically, marine n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids mitigate obesity traits through PRDM16‐driven gene–nutrient interactions ...

Microsurgical Technique of Simultaneous Pancreas/Kidney Transplantation in the Rat: Clinical Experience and Review of the Literature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background: For experimental basic research, standardized transplantation models reflecting technical and immunologic aspects are necessary. This article describes an experimental model of combined pancreas/kidney transplantation (PKTx) in detail ...

Insect‐Derived Bioactives for Glycemic Control and Gut Health: A Review

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
Insect‐derived bioactive compounds (e.g., peptides, polysaccharides) effectively regulate blood glucose through dual mechanisms: directly inhibiting carbohydrate‐digesting enzymes and glucose transporters, and indirectly modulating gut microbiota to enhance intestinal barrier integrity.

The inhibitory effects of an eight-herb formula (RCM-107) on pancreatic lipase: enzymatic, HPTLC profiling and in silico approaches

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Aims: Obesity is a global, public health issue that causes or exacerbates serious medical disorders. Chinese herbal therapies have become one of the most popular alternatives due to intolerances of current anti-obesity treatments.
