Pancreatic metastasis from locally recurrent neuroendocrine differentiated prostate cancer after radical prostatectomy

open access: yesUrology Case Reports, 2020
Pancreatic metastasis from prostate cancer (PC) is quite rare. Herein, we report the case of a 67-year-old man with pancreatic metastasis from a neuroendocrine differentiated PC (NEDPC), a local recurrence after radical prostatectomy and androgen ...

Interactions of Tumor Necrosis Factor–Related Apoptosis-Inducing Ligand (TRAIL) with the Immune System: Implications for Inflammation and Cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a member of the TNF superfamily. TRAIL has historically been distinct from the Fas ligand and TNFα in terms of selective apoptosis induction in tumor cells and has a nearly non ...

ITGAV and SMAD4 influence the progression and clinical outcome of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In SMAD4‐positive pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), integrin subunit alpha V (ITGAV) activates latent TGF‐β, which binds to the TGF‐β receptor and phosphorylates SMAD2/3. The activated SMAD2/3 forms a complex with SMAD4, and together they translocate to the nucleus, modulating gene expression to promote proliferation, migration, and invasion. In

Comparable prevalence of distant metastasis and survival of different primary site for LN + pancreatic tumor

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2020
Background Few studies have delved into the prevalence of distant metastasis (DM +) and survival for patients with lymph node metastases (LN +) by primary site.

Pancreatic Tumor Metastasis of the Tongue

open access: yesJournal of Case Reports, 2013
Distant metastasis to oral cavity is very rare and represents approximately 1% of all cases of neoplasm in oral cavity. Pancreatic cancers rarely metastasize to the oral cavity. Probably the highly aggressive nature of the pancreatic cancer does not give most of the patients a chance to live long enough to have an oral cavity metastasis.

Targeting carbonic anhydrase IX/XII prevents the anti‐ferroptotic effect of stromal lactic acid in prostate carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In prostate carcinoma, lactic acid, secreted by highly glycolytic cancer‐associated fibroblasts, is imported into tumor cells through the MCT1 transporter and prevents RSL3 and erastin‐induced ferroptosis (A). Targeting of carbonic anhydrase IX/XII, the main extracellular pH regulators, in tumor and stromal cells reduces microenvironmental acidosis and

A patient-derived orthotopic xenograft (PDOX) mouse model of a cisplatinum-resistant osteosarcoma lung metastasis that was sensitive to temozolomide and trabectedin: implications for precision oncology. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the present study, we evaluated the efficacy of trabectedin (TRAB) and temozolomide (TEM) compared to cisplatinum (CDDP) on a patient-derived orthotopic xenogrraft (PDOX) of a lung-metastasis from an osteosarcoma of a patient who failed CDDP therapy ...

Microglia limit brain tumor development by restricting tumor cell proliferation and inducing T‐cell immunity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Microglia (BV2) and IL‐4‐treated BMDMs promote astrocytoma clustering and inhibit tumor growth, not shown in other macrophage cells. In vivo, microglial co‐implantation enhances CD8+ T cell infiltration, elevates Granzyme B, lowers circulating MDSCs, and extends survival only in immune‐competent mice, but not in immune‐deficient mice.

Successful resection of pancreatic metastasis from oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma: a case report and review of the literature

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2019
Background Oesophageal cancer has a high metastatic potential and poor prognosis, with a significant risk of recurrence after radical resection. However, resected pancreatic metastasis from oesophageal cancer is rare. Case presentation Eleven years prior,
