Surgical Outcomes and Recurrence Management in Borderline Resectable Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Implications for Multidisciplinary Strategies

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Multivariate analysis identified that up‐to‐7 out (p < 0.001), lymph node metastasis (p < 0.001), and non‐anatomical resection (p = 0.02) were independent predictors of cancer recurrence, while older age (p = 0.01), Child‐Pugh B (p < 0.001), up‐to‐7 out (p = 0.01), macrovascular invasion (p = 0.01), and lymph node metastasis (p < 0.001) were ...

Bona Fide Intersegmental Plane Hepatectomy Along the Glissonean Branches (BIPHG)

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review traces the author's personal journey over three decades in the evolution of liver resection techniques, culminating in the proposal of the Bona Fide Intersegmental Plane Hepatectomy Along Glissonean Branches (BIPHG). Beginning with pioneering experiences in laparoscopic and robotic liver surgeries, the author highlights key ...

Pancreatic metastasis: sonographic findings

Abdominal Imaging, 2001
Pancreatic metastasis is a relatively rare pathologic condition. Its ultrasound (US) findings have been infrequently reported, and there has been no previous report describing its color Doppler findings. We reviewed the US findings of 13 such cases. The pancreatic metastasis consisted of a single hypoechoic nodule in four cases and multiple hypoechoic ...

Intraglomerular metastasis from pancreatic cancer

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 2001
Few case reports have shown the presence of metastatic tumor cells in renal glomeruli. We report one case with intraglomerular metastasis proved at renal biopsy. A 60-year-old man suffered from weight loss and fever of unknown origin. Urinalysis revealed proteinuria with cellular and granular casts.

LRH1 promotes pancreatic cancer metastasis

Cancer Letters, 2014
The transcriptional factor liver receptor homolog 1 (LRH1) regulates pancreatic development, and may participate in pancreatic oncogenesis through activation of growth factor signaling transduction cascades. We measured transcriptional activity of β-catenin in response to LRH1 stimulation by a Topflash reporter assay.

Pancreatic metastasis from Ewing's sarcoma

Clinical Imaging, 1997
A 26-year-old man with Ewing's sarcoma of the femur was found to have a solitary visceral metastatic focus in the pancreas. This very unusual occurrence and the topic of metastases to the pancreas in general are discussed.

Appendicular Metastasis From Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma

International Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer, 2004
We present a 78-yr-old man with appendicular metastases from pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Barium enema X-ray showed incomplete filling of a distended appendix in a patient with abdominal discomfort. Colonoscopic evaluation revealed firm nodules in appendicular orifice.

Pancreatic metastasis of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans

Journal of Gastroenterology, 2004
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a relatively rare skin tumor that is considered to have intermediate malignancy; it demonstrates frequent local recurrence, but systemic metastasis is rare. We report a 49-year-old woman with pancreatic metastasis of DFSP who underwent total pancreatectomy with partial resection of the portal vein.
