LncRNAs as epigenetic regulators of epithelial to mesenchymal transition in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesDiscover Oncology, 2022
Pancreatic cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality because of tumor metastasis. Activation of the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) pathway has been confirmed to be an important driver of pancreatic cancer progression from ...

A Synchronous Pancreatic Metastasis from Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma, with Unusual CT Characteristics, Completely Regressed after Therapy with Sunitinib

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2014
We present a case report of a 75-years-old woman affected by renal clear cell carcinoma with a synchronous pancreatic metastasis and a metachronous lung metastasis. This case has two peculiarities.

High-throughput functional screen identifies YWHAZ as a key regulator of pancreatic cancer metastasis

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2023
Pancreatic cancer is a leading cause of cancer death due to its early metastasis and limited response to the current therapies. Metastasis is a complicated multistep process, which is determined by complex genetic alterations.

Pancreatic metastasis of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma

open access: yesInternational Surgery Journal, 2020
Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma is an aggressive tumor with chondrogenic differentiation that typically develops in skeletal sites, such as craniofacial bones, ribs, ilium, femur, and the vertebrae. It counts less than 3% of primary chondrosarcomas, and about a third of these tumors develop extraskeletal sites such as the meninges, and soft tissue.

Pre-clinical Models of Metastasis in Pancreatic Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a hostile solid malignancy coupled with an extremely high mortality rate. Metastatic disease is already found in most patients at the time of diagnosis, resulting in a 5-year survival rate below 5%. Improved comprehension of the mechanisms leading to metastasis is pivotal for the development of new targeted ...

Metastasis to the pancreas and the spleen: an increasing diagnostic and therapeutic challenge

open access: yesClinics and Practice, 2011
We have reviewed the electronic biopsies database files of the Department of Surgical Pathology, Fundación Jiménez Díaz in Madrid (Spain). In this time period (1998-2010) we have found 3 pancreatic metastasis and 5 splenic metastasis.

Elastic modulus-reflected liver lesion stiffness relates to worse prognosis in pancreatic cancer patients with liver metastasis

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2023
Background Liver stiffness relates to more advanced tumor status and poor outcomes in primary liver cancer, while its prognostic role in pancreatic cancer with liver metastasis is unclear.

Pancreatic Metastasis from Prostate Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2010
The pancreas is an unusual location for metastases from other primary cancers. Rarely, pancreatic metastases from kidney or colorectal cancers have been reported. However, a variety of other cancers may also spread to the pancreas. We report an exceptional case of pancreatic metastasis from prostate cancer. Differences in management between primary and

Tumor microenvironment participates in metastasis of pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2018
Pancreatic cancer is a deadly disease with high mortality due to difficulties in its early diagnosis and metastasis. The tumor microenvironment induced by interactions between pancreatic epithelial/cancer cells and stromal cells is critical for ...
