Engrailed‐1 Promotes Pancreatic Cancer Metastasis [PDF]
AbstractEngrailed‐1 (EN1) is a critical homeodomain transcription factor (TF) required for neuronal survival, and EN1 expression has been shown to promote aggressive forms of triple negative breast cancer. Here, it is reported that EN1 is aberrantly expressed in a subset of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA) patients with poor outcomes.

Metastasis to the pancreas and the spleen: an increasing diagnostic and therapeutic challenge
We have reviewed the electronic biopsies database files of the Department of Surgical Pathology, Fundación Jiménez Díaz in Madrid (Spain). In this time period (1998-2010) we have found 3 pancreatic metastasis and 5 splenic metastasis.

Pancreatic cancer is a leading cause of cancer death due to its early metastasis and limited response to the current therapies. Metastasis is a complicated multistep process, which is determined by complex genetic alterations.

High-efficacy targeting of colon-cancer liver metastasis with Salmonella typhimurium A1-R via intra-portal-vein injection in orthotopic nude-mouse models. [PDF]
Liver metastasis is the main cause of colon cancer-related death and is a recalcitrant disease. We report here the efficacy and safety of intra-portal-vein (iPV) targeting of Salmonella typhimurium A1-R on colon cancer liver metastasis in a nude-mouse ...

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) is a family of collagenolytic enzymesand are associated with many pathological conditions. Especially, MMPs have a strong relation with tumor progression and invasion. In this review, we focused on association of MMPs and

Incidental liver metastasis in pancreatic adenocarcinoma [PDF]
Exocrine cancer of pancreas is the fourth leading cause of death in the USA among both men and women. Contrast enhanced multidetector-row computer tomography (MDCT) is the current modality of choice for the detection of distant metastasis in pancreatic cancer as a part of pre-operative workup, which helps decide on resectability.

Epigenetic control of pancreatic cancer metastasis
AbstractSurgical resection, when combined with chemotherapy, has been shown to significantly improve the survival rate of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). However, this treatment option is only feasible for a fraction of patients, as more than 50% of cases are diagnosed with metastasis.

Alternative polyadenylation of ZEB1 promotes its translation during genotoxic stress in pancreatic cancer cells [PDF]
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is characterized by extremely poor prognosis. The standard chemotherapeutic drug, gemcitabine, does not offer significant improvements for PDAC management due to the rapid acquisition of drug resistance by patients.

Enhancer Reprogramming Promotes Pancreatic Cancer Metastasis [PDF]
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA) is one of the most lethal human malignancies, owing in part to its propensity for metastasis. Here, we used an organoid culture system to investigate how transcription and the enhancer landscape become altered during discrete stages of disease progression in a PDA mouse model.
