A Case of Rare Cutaneous Metastasis from Advanced Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology, 2020
A 71-year-old woman presented to a nearby hospital with an occipital scalp ulcer with exudate. Thoracoabdominal enhanced computed tomography (CT) was performed due to suspected cancer.

Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma to Pancreas: Case Series and Review of the Literature

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Metastasis to the pancreas represents a small proportion of all pancreatic malignancies. Among primary tumors that metastasize to the pancreas, renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is one of the most common causes of metastatic pancreatic lesions. We herein report

SerpinB2 regulates stromal remodelling and local invasion in pancreatic cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Pancreatic cancer has a devastating prognosis, with an overall 5-year survival rate of ~8%, restricted treatment options and characteristic molecular heterogeneity.

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.

Pancreatic Metastases of Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesDiagnostics
Esophageal carcinoma is an aggressive cancer with a poor therapeutic response and a significant risk of recurrence after radical resection. It usually metastasizes to the lung, bones, or liver.

Small extracellular vesicles: from mediating cancer cell metastasis to therapeutic value in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2022
Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant tumor and, is extremely difficult to diagnose and treat. Metastasis is one of the critical steps in the development of cancer and uses cell to cell communication to mediate changes in the microenvironment.

Roles of tumor suppressors in regulating tumor-associated inflammation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Loss or silencing of tumor suppressors (TSs) promotes neoplastic transformation and malignant progression. To date, most work on TS has focused on their cell autonomous effects.

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...

Identification of Key mRNAs as Prediction Models for Early Metastasis of Pancreatic Cancer Based on LASSO

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2021
Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant and metastatic tumor of the digestive system. Even after surgical removal of the tumor, most patients are still at risk of metastasis. Therefore, screening for metastatic biomarkers can identify precise therapeutic

Splenectomy is associated with an aggressive tumor growth pattern and altered host immunity in an orthotopic syngeneic murine pancreatic cancer model. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether splenectomy influences the tumor growth and metastatic pattern in an orthotopic syngeneic murine pancreatic cancer model.
