Occurrence and Antimicrobial Resistance Profiles of Staphylococcus spp. Strains Isolated From Healthy Stray Dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 5, September 2025.
Stray dogs may act as silent carriers and spreaders of multidrug‐resistant Staphylococcus spp. strains in urban environments. ABSTRACT The potential role of stray dogs as reservoirs and disseminators of zoonotic antimicrobial‐resistant pathogens to humans has long been underestimated. This study aimed to assess the occurrence of antimicrobial‐resistant

Study of antibiotic resistance pattern in methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus with special reference to newer antibiotic

open access: yesJournal of Global Infectious Diseases, 2015
The worldwide epidemic of antibiotic resistance is in danger of ending the golden age of antibiotic therapy. Resistance impacts on all areas of medicine, and is making successful empirical therapy much more difficult to achieve.

Phage and Endolysin Therapy Against Antibiotics Resistant Bacteria: From Bench to Bedside

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 7, July 2025.
Synergistic effects of combining bacteriophages and antibiotics in antimicrobial therapy. The diagram illustrates key advantages of phage‐antibiotic synergy, including increased treatment effectiveness, reduced minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for drug‐resistant strains, enhanced biofilm eradication, and inhibition of resistant bacteria ...

Combination therapy for carbapenem-resistant gram-negative infections in Ukraine

open access: yesInfusion & Chemotherapy
. Antimicrobial resistance represents a serious global public health problem and poses a major challenge in the management of combat-related injuries during armed conflicts, such as the war of Russia against Ukraine.

Microbiological Profiles and Resistance Patterns in Pediatrics With Cancer: An 8‐Year Study at a Comprehensive Cancer Center in Jordan

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Infections impact morbidity and mortality in pediatric cancer patients, yet limited studies have assessed the microbiological profiles and susceptibility patterns of pathogenic bacteria in this population. This study aimed to investigate bacterial profiles and temporal resistance changes in pediatrics with cancer.

Multidrug resistance, inappropriate empiric treatment and hospital mortality in Acinetobacter baumannii pneumonia and sepsis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: The relationship between multidrug resistance (MDR), inappropriate empiric therapy (IET), and mortality among patients with Acinetobacter baumannii (AB) remains unclear. We examined it using a large U.S. database. Methods: We conducted a

Molecular Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Resistance of Klebsiella pneumoniae Strains Isolated From Dairy Cows in Xinjiang, China

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 1, January 2025.
WGS identified 27 wzi allele types (2 new), 16 K antigen serotypes, 6 O antigen serotypes, 25 sequence types (3 new), 39 antibiotic resistance and 57 virulence genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae from milk samples of cows with and without mastitis. Phylogenetic analysis showed high genomic diversity in K. pneumoniae.

Genomic insights into the rapid emergence and evolution of MDR in Staphylococcus pseudintermedius. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
OBJECTIVES: MDR methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (MRSP) strains have emerged rapidly as major canine pathogens and present serious treatment issues and concerns to public health due to their, albeit low, zoonotic potential. A further

Incidence and Antibiotic Susceptibility of Gram‐Negative Bacteria Associated With Chest Infections in Intensive Care Unit Patients From a Selected Hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background Hospital‐acquired pneumonia (HAP), including ventilator‐associated pneumonia (VAP), is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in intensive care units (ICUs). Local, organism‐specific antimicrobial resistance data are critical to guide empiric therapy and strengthen antimicrobial stewardship efforts.
