Influence of Weathering Conditions on TRC Sandwich Renovation Panels

open access: yes, 2017
Using large lightweight prefabricated sandwich panels for the renovation of existing dwellings facilitates the installation process and reduces the renovation time to a few days. To guarantee the performance of the panels during their entire life span it is necessary to evaluate their behaviour on the long term. During their life span the facade panels

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Performance study of building cooling system composed of photovoltaic panels, phase change material, and thermoelectric cooler: impact of its orientation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration
This paper presents an implementation of a cooling system within a room wall, combining a photovoltaic panel outside the wall, two layers of phase change material embedded in the wall, and a thermoelectric cooling (TEC) system inside the wall.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Smart Odour Sensing for Automated Monitoring of Bread Products

open access: yesProceedings
This work proposes an electronic nose (e-nose) system based on resistive gas sensors to predict the cooking evolution of different types of bread. The e-nose includes six metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) gas sensors, a low-noise electronic system for ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Panel Conditioning in a Longitudinal Study of Adolescents' Substance Use: Evidence from an Experiment

open access: yes, 2012
Panel surveys are widely used in sociology to examine life-course trajectories and to assess causal effects. However, when using panel data researchers usually assume that the act of measuring respondents' attitudes and behaviors has no effect on the ...
