A redeterminations of the Panofsky ratio
Il Nuovo Cimento, 1961The Panofsky ratio has been measured using an NaI(Tl) γ-ray spectrometer. The accuracy is limited by the statistical error and not by the resolving power of the spectrometer or by other sources of systematic errors. The final result isP = 1.533±0.021.

Peirce, Panofsky and the Gothic
Transactions of the Charles S. Peirce Society, 2012This paper aims to show that Peirce’s analogy of scholastic logic and Gothic architecture merits more than the dismissive note John F. Boler grants it in his essay “Peirce and Medieval Thought” (Boler 2004). Peirce does not just anticipate art historian Erwin Panofsky’s view of an analogy between the scholastic Summa and the Gothic cathedral.

Erwin Panofsky is famous as one of the most important art historians of the 20th century. His “Galileo as a Critic of the Arts”, first published in English in 1955, is an exceptional piece in his production, since it focuses not so much on art but on science, with a rather provocative thesis—the great Galileo missed the discovery of the elliptical ...

Measurement of the Panofsky Ratio
2010The π⁻p → π°n and π⁻p → γn have been investigated for stopped pions in a liquid hydrogen target. In order to separate the inflight π° → γγ decay (55 to 83 MeV photons) from the radiative capture photons (129)MeV), a large Nal(Tl) crystal of dimensions 46 cm Ø x 51 cm was used as a total energy detector. The energy resolution was 6% fwhm at 129 MeV, and
