Corn response to biological products and a nitrification inhibitor
Abstract Atmospheric nitrogen (N2) is converted into ammonia (NH3), a form that plants can use, through biological nitrogen (N) fixation by various microorganisms and bacterial genera. This study assessed the field performance of three biological N‐fixing products, or biostimulants (BS), including Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus (BS1), Klebsiella ...

An Epicoccum fungus was isolated from gut of larvae of the butterfly Dione juno juno that feeds intensively on leaves of Passifloras. This fungus produces hydroxyanthraquinones that moderately inhibits growth of some Bacillus that coexist with the fungus in the insect gut, suggesting that it is probably important for microbial embalance in gut flora ...

This review discusses bacteriophages' roles in soil ecosystems, highlighting their impact on nutrient cycling, plant health, and soil remediation, as well as animal‐mediated phage dispersal mechanisms. Overall, while bacteriophages have potential biotechnological applications, their negative effects on microbial functions and nutrient cycling highlight

Pantoea phytostimulans sp. nov., a novel strain with plant growth-promoting properties
A phosphate-solubilizing bacterial strain, designated C3T, was isolated from the rhizosphere of sorghum. The taxonomic classification of this novel isolate was investigated by using a polyphasic approach. Cells of this strain were Gram-stain-negative, facultatively anaerobic and motile short rods with a polar flagellum.

ABSTRACT The soil borne pathogen Rhizoctonia solani AG8 causes Rhizoctonia bare patch disease, a major constraint on global wheat production, particularly in no‐ or minimal ‐till systems. Current control strategies such as crop rotation, chemical fungicides, and tillage provide only partial protection, while fungicides can accelerate resistance ...
