Objective This study aimed to identify factors that predict progression to necrotizing pneumonia (NP) in children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) who fail to respond to initial therapy and to develop a predictive model to support early clinical decision‐making. Methods We retrospectively analyzed clinical and laboratory data of children with

Background Necrotizing pneumonia is a severe and potentially fatal complication of community‐acquired pneumonia, often associated with toxin‐producing or drug‐resistant pathogens. Rapid and accurate identification of these pathogens is crucial for timely intervention. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)–based diagnostic tools, such as the BioFire FilmArray

First Report on Neonatal Isolated Submandibular Suppurative Sialadenitis in Preterm Triplet Girls
Neonatal isolated submandibular suppurative sialadenitis (NISSS) is a rare condition. We present a case of NISSS caused by Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) in premature triplet girls born at 28 + 1 weeks of gestation. Mother’s milk culture tested positive for S. aureus, which is presumed to be the potential contributing factor of the infection.

Necrotizing pneumonia and empyema caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum are uncommon. The classical presentation of Lemierre′s syndrome, characterized by pharyngotonsillitis and internal jugular vein thrombosis, is not always observed, and incomplete and atypical variants can cause diagnostic uncertainty and delay in treatment.

Host–Receptor Post-Translational Modifications Refine Staphylococcal Leukocidin Cytotoxicity
Staphylococcal bi-component pore-forming toxins, also known as leukocidins, target and lyse human phagocytes in a receptor-dependent manner. S-components of the leukocidins Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL), γ-haemolysin AB (HlgAB) and CB (HlgCB ...
