Evaluation of Flow Parameters around Tracking Solar Collectors with Different Collector Geometry and Different Operation Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2014
In the current study, the flow parameters around the tracking solar collectors were evaluated. Different site conditions with different tracking solar collector's geometry are combined and investigated. Site conditions included different wind loading due

Palaeoglacier reconstruction and dynamics of Cordillera Vilcanota in the tropical high Peruvian Andes

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 2, February 2026.
We provide a geomorphological analysis of Cordillera Vilcanota and use morphostratigraphic principles to reconstruct palaeo icefield extent and palaeoglacier readvances, likely during the Antarctic Cold Reversal and Younger Dryas. We find evidence of temperate and polythermal ice margins, with limited glaciofluvial landform generation.

Effect of the Orientation Schemes of the Energy Collection Element on the Optical Performance of a Parabolic Trough Concentrating Collector

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
While the circular shape is currently the proven optimum design of the energy collection element (ECE) of a parabolic trough collector, that is yet to be confirmed for parabolic trough concentrating collectors (PTCCs) like trough concentrating ...

Welfare assessment of turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo gallopavo) on farm

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract This Scientific Opinion assesses the welfare of turkeys of all ages (Meleagris gallopavo gallopavo) on farm in relation to the type and condition of the litter, type and availability of enrichment (including covered veranda and outdoor range), space allowance, concentrations of ammonia and carbon dioxide, effective environmental temperature ...

A review of parabolic solar cookers with thermal energy storage

open access: yesHeliyon, 2021
Biomass and fossil fuels are mostly used in rural areas of developing countries for cooking. These energy resources have negative impacts on the environment and human health mainly due to deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions.

Distribution Pattern, Ecological Determinants and Conservation Gaps of Model‐Predicted Relative Probability of Occurrence Zones for the Tufted Deer (Elaphodus cephalophus) in China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study analyzed the habitat suitability of the tufted deer, a rare and endemic ungulate in China, using the MaxEnt model and found that suitable habitats are mainly concentrated in Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan provinces. However, the majority of these areas are not covered by existing protected areas, highlighting the urgent need to expand ...

Direct Steam Generation in Parabolic Trough Collectors

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2014
Existing commercial parabolic trough power plants use thermal oil as a heat transfer fluid, with working temperatures in the region of 400ºC. In order to achieve more efficient generating systems, a second generation of parabolic troughs that operate at temperatures higher than 400ºC is being developed.

The impact of Arctic sea‐ice loss on winter weather in the British Isles

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, Volume 152, Issue 774, January 2026 Part A.
Arctic sea‐ice loss shifts the North Atlantic jet and storm track equatorward, and results in a more negative North Atlantic Oscillation and more positive East Atlantic and Scandinavian patterns. Strong extratropical cyclones weaken and become less frequent for the British Isles, but there is model disagreement for precipitation, surface winds, and ...
