Acute Drug‐Induced Liver Injury After Four Doses of Nitrofurantoin, as Evaluated for Causality Using the Updated RUCAM, With a Disproportionate Rise in AST—A Novel Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Drug‐induced liver injury remains a severe but underdiscussed adverse effect of nitrofurantoin. This case uniquely describes hepatic injury occurring after four doses of nitrofurantoin, with a disproportionate rise in AST and rapid complete recovery following discontinuation of the drug. A RUCAM score of six supports the probability of DILI.

Changes in Gabapentinoid Use Among Danish Patients With Spinal Pain: A Comparison of Two Secondary Care Cohorts 2013–2014 and 2021–2022

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 30, Issue 6, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Gabapentinoids (gabapentin and pregabalin) are increasingly prescribed for spinal pain despite limited evidence of benefit and recognised risks. Understanding which characteristics influence prescribing and how prescription use has evolved may inform safer and more evidence‐based practice.

Phytochemical Composition and Potential Bioactivity With ADMET Analysis of Selected Species From Myrtaceae Family

open access: yesFlavour and Fragrance Journal, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 1002-1029, July 2026.
Investigation of four medicinal plants of the family Myrtaceae. ABSTRACT Compounds derived from natural sources continue to serve as chemical scaffolds for designing prophylactic/therapeutic options for human healthcare. This study aimed to evaluate the phytochemical composition, antioxidant potential, in vitro anti‐inflammatory, antibacterial and ...

Verbal and Visuospatial Working Memory Performance During the CO2 Challenge Model of Anxiety

open access: yesHuman Psychopharmacology: Clinical and Experimental, Volume 41, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Anxiety influences working memory performance, but the effects on clinical neuropsychological assessments of working memory are not well known. Methods We examined the effect of anxiety, induced using the 7.5% carbon dioxide model of anxiety on standardized clinical neuropsychological tests of working memory and executive function in

Population Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Paracetamol in Malaysian Patients With Plasmodium knowlesi Malaria

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 15, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Paracetamol may improve renal function in patients with severe Plasmodium knowlesi malaria, particularly in those with acute kidney injury and hemolysis, via inhibition of cell‐free hemoglobin mediated oxidative kidney damage. We developed a population pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) model to assess effects of paracetamol on creatinine,
