DEVELOPMENT OF A CORE THERMO-FLUID ANALYSIS CODE FOR PRISMATIC GAS COOLED REACTORS

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2014
A new computer code, named CORONA (Core Reliable Optimization and thermo-fluid Network Analysis), was developed for the core thermo-fluid analysis of a prismatic gas cooled reactor.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Parallel calculations by automata on direct and back spanning trees of a graph

open access: yesТруды Института системного программирования РАН, 2018
The paper presents a parallel computation algorithm of an arbitrary function value on a multiset of values distributed on directed graph vertices. The computation is performed by message passing executed by automata distributed on the graph vertices. The

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

On the Approximation of Laplacian Eigenvalues in Graph Disaggregation

open access: yes, 2016
Graph disaggregation is a technique used to address the high cost of computation for power law graphs on parallel processors. The few high-degree vertices are broken into multiple small-degree vertices, in order to allow for more efficient computation in

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Computing Tropical Prevarieties in Parallel

open access: yes, 2017
The computation of the tropical prevariety is the first step in the application of polyhedral methods to compute positive dimensional solution sets of polynomial systems.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Distributed computation of persistent homology

open access: yes, 2013
Persistent homology is a popular and powerful tool for capturing topological features of data. Advances in algorithms for computing persistent homology have reduced the computation time drastically -- as long as the algorithm does not exhaust the ...
