Mobility of overconstrained parallel mechanisms with reconfigurable end-effectors

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2022
Reconfigurable parallel mechanisms have legs or end-effectors with additional degrees of freedom or with the ability to change their mobility. This allows them to reconfigure into a variety of conventional parallel mechanisms.

Optimization of a Spherical Five-Bar Parallel Drive Linkage

Journal of Mechanical Design, 1991
The spherical five bar parallel drive linkage is investigated for use as a spherical manipulator or as a pointing mechanism. The direct and inverse kinematics are derived for a general 5-R linkage. Kinematic and dynamic optimization yields a geometry in which all link lengths are equal to a right angle.

Three Types of Parallel 6R Linkages

2013
In this paper, we consider a special kind of overconstrained 6R closed linkages which we call parallel 6R linkages. These are linkages with the property that they have three pairs of parallel joint-axes. We prove that there are three types of parallel 6R linkage.

Efficient Sequential and Parallel Algorithms for Incremental Record Linkage

2020
Given a collection of records, the problem of record linkage is to cluster them such that each cluster contains all the records of one and only one individual. Existing algorithms for this important problem have large run times especially when the number of records is large.

Parallelizing genetic linkage analysis: A case study for applying parallel computation in molecular biology

Computers and Biomedical Research, 1991
Parallel computers offer a solution to improve the lengthy computation time of many conventional, sequential programs used in molecular biology. On a parallel computer, different pieces of the computation are performed simultaneously on different processors.

Comparative Study of Single Linkage, Complete Linkage, and Ward Method of Agglomerative Clustering

International Conference Machine Learning, Big Data, Cloud and Parallel Computing, 2019
Clustering is the process of grouping the datasets into various clusters in such a way which leads to maximum inter-cluster dissimilarity but maximum intra-cluster similarity.

Parallelization of genetic operations that takes building-block linkage into account

Artificial Life and Robotics, 2012
We propose a performance enhancement using parallelization of genetic operations that takes highly fit schemata (building-block) linkages into account. Previously, we used the problem of solving Sudoku puzzles to demonstrate the possibility of shortening processing times through the use of many-core processors for genetic computations.

Phonetics-Based Parallel Privacy Preserving Record Linkage

2017
We live in an era characterized by the abundance of data, often conveying personal information. Linking this kind of data is useful for a variety of applications, raising, however privacy concerns. To address this issue, privacy preserving record linkage has emerged, with techniques aiming at revealing to the matching parties only the actually matching

Design and prototype of parallel, wire‐actuated robots with a constraining linkage

Journal of Robotic Systems, 2004
AbstractCurrently, wire‐actuated robots are not used extensively in industry, but they are gaining more attention due to advantages they possess. Low weight, cost, and power consumption are features that make wire‐controlled robots worth researching. This article investigates the designs of two different, 4 degrees of freedom parallel, wire‐actuated ...

Design and Analysis of Cellular Multidimensional Morphing Linkage of Aircraft Fuselage

International Conference on Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering
Firstly, this paper proposes two types of variable cross-section morphing for the aircraft fuselage: upper convex and below convex morphing. Secondly, an innovative design of a cellular multidimensional morphing linkage combining planar six-bar linkages ...
