Parallel Mechanism for Precision Sun Tracking

ASME 2010 10th Biennial Conference on Engineering Systems Design and Analysis, Volume 2, 2010
The paper describes a 2-DOF parallel kinematic machine designed to achieve precise solar tracking. The mechanism has been developed keeping in mind that solar concentration technology requires a precise alignment of photovoltaic modules and sun radiation, with error allowance much lower than those ensured by traditional sun trackers.

Geared Parallel Mechanisms

2018
Gears are widely used in machines for the purpose of transmission of rotary or rectilinear motion from one shaft to another. They are employed in a variety of industrial and technological applications such as automobiles, tractors, helicopter motor systems, machine tools, aircrafts, robotic mechanisms and others.

Mechanisms for Parallel Computers

1993
Most existing parallel computers have similar structure. However, they are specialized to a particular parallel programming model by a set of special-purpose, hardwired mechanisms. We propose a set of generalized mechanisms for parallel computing that efficiently support most proposed parallel programming models. The mechanisms we propose are primitive

A Parallel Computer Organization and Mechanizations

IEEE Transactions on Electronic Computers, 1963
This paper describes a type of parallel computer organization which can be regarded as lying at one extreme of a spectrum of possible degrees of parallelism. The organization is dominated by two characteristics, namely, one-bit storage per computational cell and single-level logic at each computational step.

Translational parallel mechanism

2021
Translational parallel mechanism comprising three legs, in which each leg is a kinematic chain which comprises:  a first cardan joint comprising a first revolute pair and a second revolute pair,  a first member connected, at a first end thereof, to a frame by means of the first cardan joint in such a manner that the rotation axis of the first ...

Coordinate measuring machine with parallel mechanisms

Computer Standards & Interfaces, 1999
Widely used in manufacturing industry, coordinate measuring machines(CMM) are traditionally designed with a serial structure, which is composed of a serial chain of three mutually perpendicular prismatic joints to achieve three degrees of freedom in motion.

Mechanism topology design for novel parallel-parallel hexapod robot

2014 UKACC International Conference on Control (CONTROL), 2014
The Octopus is a hexapod robot designed for research on emergency rescue missions in nuclear plants. The robot focused on load-bearing capability and adaptability in different unknown radiation scenarios. Compared with other legged robots, the main difference is that the robot applied 3 degree of freedom (DOF) parallel mechanism which improves the ...

Parallel Computation in Mechanics

2011
The success of numerical simulation as an independent approach to the solution of engineering problems requires computing capability far exceeding that which is presently available. In this paper, the computing requirements posed by challenging problems in mechanics are examined and contrasted with contemporary supercomputer resources.

Sequential and parallel molecular mechanics calculations

Journal of Molecular Graphics, 1996
This article describes a gradient algorithm for the computational optimization of model molecular structures, and discusses the various compromises inherent in the practical expression of the algorithm in a Fortran computer program (VULCAN) for both sequential and parallel computers.
