The interactions between magnetic islands are considered to play an important role in electron acceleration during magnetic reconnection. In this paper, two-dimensional (2-D) particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations are performed to study electron acceleration

On the Direct Kinematics Problem of Parallel Mechanisms
The direct kinematics problem of parallel mechanisms, that is, determining the pose of the manipulator platform from the linear actuators’ lengths, is, in general, uniquely not solvable.

Parallel molecular mechanisms for enzyme temperature adaptation
Some like it hot, others not Enzymes strike a delicate balance between features that enhance chemical reactivity and those that contribute to stable structure. Both features are important and can be unrelated or antagonistic. Pinney et al.

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Control of Parallel Mechanisms.
There is a great deal of research on control of parallel mechanisms that considers their characteristics or how they may be made best use of. In this review, a dynamic control method by Uecker is introduced. As to force control, it explains effectiveness of parallel mechanisms and a hybrid control scheme by Nguyen.

Lubrication Mechanisms Between Parallel Rough Surfaces [PDF]
This paper presents a numerical analysis of the hydrodynamic pressure build-up between parallel surfaces. According to the Reynolds theory, it is not possible to generate a pressure between flat parallel sliding surfaces. However, experimental results demonstrate that mechanical seal surfaces can be separated by a full fluid film if the sliding speed ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
