A combining mechanism for parallel computers [PDF]
In a multiprocessor computer communication among the components may be based either on a simple router, which delivers messages point-to-point like a mail service, or on a more elaborate combining network that, in return for a greater investment in hardware, can combine messages to the same address prior to delivery.

Dynamic formulation and inertia fast estimation of a 5-DOF hybrid robot
As the main driving mechanism of a hybrid robot, the parallel mechanism is a nonlinear time-varying system. The load inertia of its actuated joints changes with the configuration of the robot.

Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

A Parallel Mechanism for Detecting Curves in Pictures
In Hough [1], Duda and Hart [2], and Griffith [3] procedures were proposed for detecting lines in pictures and in [2] Duda and Hart extended their method for more general algebraic curve, fitting. This correspondence shows how this method can be used to detect any given curve in a specific orientation.

A Review on Reconfigurable Parallel Mechanisms: Design, Analysis and Challenge
Reconfigurable parallel mechanisms were first discovered in response to the growing demand for flexible and adaptive systems in various fields. Unlike traditional mechanisms, which are designed for specific tasks and have fixed topology and mobility ...

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
