Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

Kinematics of the 3(RPSP)-S Fully Spherical Parallel Manipulator by Means of Screw Theory

open access: yesRobotics, 2018
In this work, the kinematics of a spherical parallel manipulator composed of three peripheral limbs equipped with linear actuators and a passive center shaft is approached by means of the theory of screws. The displacement analysis is carried out solving

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Parallel Implementation of the Katsevich's FBP Algorithm

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomedical Imaging, 2006
For spiral cone-beam CT, parallel computing is an effective approach to resolving the problem of heavy computation burden. It is well known that the major computation time is spent in the backprojection step for either filtered-backprojection (FBP) or ...

Influence of Inter-row Gap Value on Turbine Losses

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2001
This paper presents the results of a numerical investigation of the gap influence on the turbine efficiency. The rotor-stator interaction in a (1/2)-stage turbine is simulated by solving the quasi-three-dimensional unsteady Euler/Navier-Stokes equations ...

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Parallel numerical simulation of oscillating airfoil NACA0015 in the channel due to flutter instability

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
The work is devoted to 3D and 2D parallel numerical computation of pressure and velocity fields around an elastically supported airfoil self-oscillating due to interaction with the airflow.
