Functional Outcomes of Distal Humerus Fractures in Adults Treated with Precontoured Anatomical Locking Plates in Parallel Fashion: A Study from a Tertiary Centre in India

open access: yesGAIMS Journal of Medical Sciences, 2023
Introduction: Distal humerus fractures accounts for 2-6% of all fractures and 1/3 of all humerus fractures. Intra-articular fractures of distal humerus are very rare accounting for 0.5% of all fractures.

Half quantum vortex in superfluid $^3$He-A phase in parallel plate geometry

open access: yes, 2007
The half quantum vortex(HQV) in condensate has been studied, since it was predicted by Salomaa and Volovik in superfluid $^3$He-A phase. However, an experimental evidence for its existence has not been reported so far.

Radiative corrections to the Casimir force and effective field theories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Radiative corrections to the Casimir force between two parallel plates are considered in both scalar field theory of one massless and one massive field and in QED.

Elongation of confined ferrofluid droplets under applied fields

open access: yes, 1999
Ferrofluids are strongly paramagnetic liquids. We study the behavior of ferrofluid droplets confined between two parallel plates with a weak applied field parallel to the plates. The droplets elongate under the applied field to reduce their demagnetizing

Thermal diffractive corrections to Casimir energies

open access: yes, 2011
We study the interplay of thermal and diffractive effects in Casimir energies. We consider plates with edges, oriented either parallel or perpendicular to each other, as well as a single plate with a slit.

On the Hamiltonian structure and three-dimensional instabilities of rotating liquid bridges [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We consider a rotating inviscid liquid drop trapped between two parallel plates. The liquid–air interface is a free surface and the boundaries of the wetted regions in the plates are also free.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The Casimir Effect for Parallel Plates Revisited

open access: yes, 2007
The Casimir effect for a massless scalar field with Dirichlet and periodic boundary conditions (b.c.) on infinite parallel plates is revisited in the local quantum field theory (lqft) framework introduced by B.Kay.

The Casimir Force in a Lorentz Violating Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We study the effects of the minimal extension of the standard model including Lorentz violation on the Casimir force between two parallel conducting plates in vacuum. We provide explicit solutions for the electromagnetic field using scalar field analogy,

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
