A first principles study of paramagnetic defects in diamond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Diamond is a radiation-hard material with a wide band-gap which is typically electrically insulating. A wide range of diamond-based material is available, including natural gemstones and synthetic diamondmanufactured by chemical vapour deposition (CVD ...

Metastable paramagnetic centers in quartz from rocks of Gotthard massif (Switzerland) as potential indicators of geological processes

open access: yes, 2020

Asymmetric Electrostrain/Electrobending in Piezoelectric Ceramics: Role of Defect Dipoles or Oxygen Vacancies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Defect‐configurational origins of the asymmetric apparent electrostrain are revealed in different piezoelectric ceramics via atomic‐scale visualization of defect configurations. Migration of oxygen vacancies leads to the electrobending effect in N2‐sintered BaTiO3, while defect dipoles in Ba0.99TiO2.99 generate true asymmetric electrostrain without ...

Graphdiyne as a Hole‐Transport Channel in Carbon Nitride Heterojunctions for Synergistic CO2 Reduction and γ‐Butyrolactone Synthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A fully metal‐free heterojunction constructed from graphdiyne (GDY) and polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) enables efficient coupling of CO2 reduction and tetrahydrofuran oxidation. GDY serves as a hole‐transport channel, establishing a built‐in electric field that drives spatial charge separation. The optimized catalyst achieves near‐unity selectivity for

A High‐Entropy Strategy for Chemoresistive Ethanol Sensors With Remarkably Rapid and Selective Response

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The configurational‐entropy strategy enables rapid and sensitive ethanol detection using a multicomponent oxide. The high‐entropy (InSnFeZnW)Ox provides enriched oxygen vacancies and diverse adsorption sites that strengthen surface reactivity. The sensor achieves a 5135% ethanol response with fast kinetics and stable long‐term operation.

Electron paramagnetic resonance and optical investigations of defect centres in diamond

open access: yes, 1965
A survey of the optical and electron paramagnetic resonance (E.F.R.) absorption in a large number of diamonds from all major sources of production has revealed that perfect diamond is virtually non-existent.

ENDOR investigation of defects in sodium [MATH]-alumina

open access: yes, 1980

Glycine‐Induced Unique Crystal Packing of Octacyanidetungstates With Strong Intermolecular Antiferromagnetic Interaction, Near‐Infrared Emission, and Second Harmonic Generation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Glycine molecules induce a unique crystal packing into a supramolecular one‐dimensional columnar structure of octacyanidotungstates, which exhibits exceptionally strong antiferromagnetic superexchange interactions of J = −42.41(2) K between adjacent octacyanidotungstate units.

Trap Depth Modulation and Antenna Effect of Organic Ligands for Enhancing Rare‐Earth Long Persistent Luminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Different from the current research trends that mainly focus on optimizing a single color system, a universal organic–inorganic hybrid strategy is proposed, aiming to synergistically enhance the luminescent properties of red, green, and blue multi‐color inorganic long‐persistent phosphorescent materials by trap depth modulation and antenna effect of ...

Mechanisms of nitrogen aggregation in nickel- and cobalt-containing synthetic diamonds

open access: yes, 2000
We present a study of the point defects observed in as-grown and annealed synthetic diamonds using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and infrared spectroscopy.
