Compact binary systems with neutron stars or black holes are one of the most promising sources for ground-based gravitational-wave detectors. Gravitational radiation encodes rich information about source physics: thus parameter estimation and model ...

Post-manoeuvre and online parameter estimation for manned and unmanned aircraft [PDF]
Parameterised analytical models that describe the trimmed inflight behaviour of classical aircraft have been studied and are widely accepted by the flight dynamics community.

Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

This study focuses on parameter estimation and reliability analysis for the two-parameter Rayleigh distribution under random censoring. It is shown that directly fitting the standard Rayleigh distribution can lead to substantial estimation errors ...

Parameter Estimation for Gibbs Distributions
A central problem in computational statistics is to convert a procedure for sampling combinatorial objects into a procedure for counting those objects, and vice versa. We consider sampling problems coming from Gibbs distributions , which are families of probability ...

Estimation of the slope parameter in a linear regression model under a bounded loss function
The estimation of the slope parameter of a simple linear regression model in the presence of nonsample prior information under the reflected normal loss function is considered.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Estimation by Ranking Parameters
Summary It is shown that a linear ordering of the parameter space is a useful generalization of classical estimates, and that for a certain class of loss functions, Bayes decision procedures lead to very simple linear orderings.

Parameter estimation for a computable general equilibrium model: a maximum entropy approach [PDF]
We introduce a maximum entropy approach to parameter estimation for computable general equilibrium (CGE) models. The approach applies information theory to estimating a system of nonlinear simultaneous equations. It has a number of advantages.
