Parametric Excitation of a Nonlinear System [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mechanics, 1965
A study has been made on the parametric excitation of a nonlinear system with hardening springs. In the parametric excitation of linear systems, the only subharmonic predicted is a subharmonic of order 1/2. However, in the parametric excitation of non-linear systems, it is shown that higher order subharmonics can exist, depending both on the amplitude ...

Impulsive Parametric Excitation: Theory

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mechanics, 1972
Given in this paper is the development of a theory for dynamical systems subjected to periodic impulsive parametric excitations. By periodic impulsive parametric excitation we mean those excitations representable by periodic coefficients which consist of sequences of Dirac delta functions.

Parametric Excitation of a Detuned Spherical Pendulum [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sound and Vibration, 1993
Abstract The weakly non-linear response of a slightly detuned spherical pendulum with natural frequencies ω 1 and ω 2 , ω 1 ≈ ω 2 , subject to parametric excitation at frequency 2ω, is analyzed in the parametric domain ω 2 − 1 2 ; (ω 2 1 + ω 2 2 ) = O (eω 2 ), where e is a measure of the excitation.

Parametric Excitations of Coupled Nanomagnets

open access: yesJournal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2023
We demonstrate that parametrically excited eigenmodes in nearby nanomagnets can be coupled to each other. Both positive (in-phase) and negative (anti-phase) couplings can be realized by a combination of appropriately chosen geometry and excitation field frequency. The oscillations are sufficiently stable against thermal fluctuations. The phase relation

Response of a Parametrically Excited System to a Nonstationary Excitation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vibration and Control, 1993
The response of a single-degree-of-freedom system to a nonstationary excitation is investigated by using the method of multiple scales as well as analog- and digital-computer simulations. The unexcited system has one focus and two saddle points. The system can be used to model rolling of ships in head or follower seas.

Linear matrix differential-algebraic boundary-value problem in the case of parametric resonance

open access: yesНауковий вісник Ужгородського університету. Серія: Математика і інформатика, 2017
We construct necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solution of linear boundary value problem for a parametric excitation system of differential-algebraic equations.

Parametric excitation of stay-cables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The main objective of this thesis is to develop a finite-element-based cable model to study a self-excited phenomenon categorized as "the parametric excitation" of stay-cables, particularly for the cable-stayed bridges.

Experimental Research on 2 : 1 Parametric Vibration of Stay Cable Model under Support Excitation

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2016
For 2 : 1 parametric vibration problem of stay cable under support excitation, a sliding support only in the vertical moving is designed to simulate the bridge stay cable’s vibration test model.
