Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Parametric Modeling and Numerical Simulation of a Three-Dimensional Random Aggregate Model of Lime–Sand Piles Based on Python–Abaqus

open access: yesBuildings
A lime–sand pile is a three-phase particle composite material composed of a lime matrix, sand, and a loess aggregate at the meso level. Establishing a random aggregate model that can reflect the actual aggregate gradation, content, and morphology is the ...

Stochasticity: A Feature for the Structuring of Large and Heterogeneous Image Databases

open access: yesEntropy, 2013
The paper addresses image feature characterization and the structuring of large and heterogeneous image databases through the stochasticity or randomness appearance. Measuring stochasticity involves finding suitable representations that can significantly

Parametric Modeling and Buckling Analysis of Stiffened Spherical Shell Based on ABAQUS

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan, 2022
Due to the good load carrying capacity and designability, the stiffener design and buckling analysis of stiffened spherical shell structure have always been the classic and challenging problems. The parametric finite element modeling method of stiffened ...

Semi-parametric regression: Efficiency gains from modeling the nonparametric part

open access: yes, 2011
It is widely admitted that structured nonparametric modeling that circumvents the curse of dimensionality is important in nonparametric estimation. In this paper we show that the same holds for semi-parametric estimation.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Dual-pumped degenerate Kerr oscillator in a silicon nitride microresonator

open access: yes, 2015
We demonstrate a degenerate parametric oscillator in a silicon-nitride microresonator. We use two frequency-detuned pump waves to perform parametric four-wave mixing and operate in the normal group-velocity dispersion regime to produce signal and idler ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A Smart Parametric 3D Printing Hand Assistive Device With a Practical Physically Intervention Feedback Based on the Embedded IMU Sensor

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Assistive devices are one of the crucial medical instruments for rehabilitation. Customized designs are required to match the geometry and dimensions of the affected sites of human bodies.

Modeling of preloaded threaded pipe connections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper a modeling method to perform parametric studies on preloaded threaded connections is presented. The method uses a non-linear 2D axisymmetric finite element model, and is illustrated by a parametric study of an API Line Pipe connection.
