Modelling Fertility: A Semi-Parametric Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
This article presents a categorical model of fertility based on the statistical theory of the Generalised Linear Model (GLM). Focussing on the individual probability of giving birth to a child, we derive distributions which can be embedded in a GLM ...

Parametric Modelling of Multivariate Count Data Using Probabilistic Graphical Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Multivariate count data are defined as the number of items of different categories issued from sampling within a population, which individuals are grouped into categories.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

PARAMETRIC MODELLING AND FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF A TENSEGRITY STRUCTURE

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2021
In the introductory part of the paper, general aspects related to tensegrity structures are briefly presented. Next is presented the principle model of the adopted tensegrity structure and the parameters used in its CAD modelling.

Agent Teams and Evolutionary Computation: Optimizing Semi- Parametric Spatial Autoregressive Models [PDF]

open access: yes
Classical spatial autoregressive models share the same weakness as the classical linear regression models, namely it is not possible to estimate non-linear relationships between the dependent and independent variables.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Modelling for uncertainty in HBIM processes

open access: yesVitruvio: International Journal of Architectural Technology and Sustainability
The application of HBIM for the information management of historical buildings is often hindered by the presence of uncertainty due to limited geometric information and documentation at the time of modelling; controlling and organising this level of ...

Parametric identification of the dynamics of inter-sectoral balance: modelling and forecasting

open access: yes, 2019
This work is devoted to modelling and identification of the dynamics of the inter-sectoral balance of a macroeconomic system. An approach to the problem of specification and identification of a weakly formalized dynamical system is developed.
