Exploring the glycans of Euglena gracilis [PDF]
Euglena gracilis is an alga of great biotechnological interest and extensive metabolic capacity, able to make high levels of bioactive compounds, such as polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and β-glucan. Previous work has shown that Euglena expresses a

Toksično djelovanje kadmija i pojava rezistencije u euglene [PDF]
By monitoring the fate of individual Euglena cells on agar plates, extreme sensitivity to low concentrations of cadmium ions during cell division was detected. Toxic effects of cadmium were somewhat more pronounced in the light.

Functional characterisation of Euglena gracilis following growth medium enrichment [PDF]
In recent years, microalgae, particularly Euglena gracilis, have been candidates for the food/feed industry thanks to their nutritional and functional properties. However, the inclusion of E.

Chemical modification potentiates paramylon induction of antimicrobial activity.
Induction of antimicrobial activity by two water-insoluble polysaccharides, paramylon and TAK, was significantly potentiated by introduction of positively charged groups (such as N,N-dimethylaminoethyl; N,N-diethylaminoethyl; and 2-hydroxy-3-trimethylammoniopropyl), but not by introduction of negatively charged groups (such as carboxymethyl or sulfate).

Macrophage stimulation activity of antimicrobial N,N-dimethylaminoethyl paramylon.
Pretreatment with N,N-dimethylaminoethyl (DMAE) paramylon significantly protected mice from infection by various microorganisms. When mouse peritoneal macrophages were cultured with DMAE-paramylon, they showed morphological change (spreading) and elevated NBT-reducing activity.

Thermoplasticization of Paramylon by Ionic Liquids
Paramylon is a rare glucan produced by Euglena gracilis microalgae as intracellular energy storage granules. Its linear macromolecular structure involves β(1-3) glycosidic linkages that induce a triple helix conformation. This structure gives unique bioactive immunomodulating properties with potential anti-inflammatory effects. However, it also results
