Cytokines and Malaria Parasitemia
Clinical Immunology, 2001The balance between pro- and antiinflammatory cytokines may be important in malaria presentation and outcome. Malaria tends to be more severe in children than in adults, presumably because partial immunity develops with age. However, the full nature of, and age-related differences in, anti-malarial immunity are unknown.

Parasitemia in a neonatal bison calf
Veterinary Clinical Pathology, 2004Abstract: A 3‐day old female bison calf (Bison bison) was presented in lateral recumbency to the Université de Montréal Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The animal was severely depressed and dehydrated (10%) and died a few hours after admission. Prior to death, blood samples were obtained for CBC, clinical chemistry, and serology tests.

The Journal of Parasitology, 1958
was a possibility that the abnormally high parasitemia observed in Swiss mice was a reflection of a Swiss-adapted parasite. The hypothesis was tested (Greenberg and Kendrick, 1957a) by passing the parasite serially through each of the strains of mice. There was no evidence that in any of these strains of mice there was an increase in parasitemia with ...

Persistent Parasitemia after Acute Babesiosis
New England Journal of Medicine, 1998Babesiosis, a zoonosis caused by the protozoan Babesia microti, is usually not treated when the symptoms are mild, because the parasitemia appears to be transient. However, the microscopical methods used to diagnose this infection are insensitive, and few infected people have been followed longitudinally.

Microscopic malaria parasitemia diagnosis and grading on benchmark datasets
Microscopy research and technique (Print), 2018Malaria parasitemia diagnosis and grading is hard and still far from perfection. Inaccurate diagnosis and grading has caused tremendous deaths rate particularly in young children worldwide.

Malaria parasitemia and systemic cytokine bias in pregnancy
International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 2007AbstractObjectives: To investigate the effects of age, gravidity, and gestational age on peripheral malaria parasitemia and functional T helper (Th) cell heterogeneity in pregnant women. Methods: Maternal age, gravidity, and gestational age were recorded and peripheral venous blood collected from 175 women attending antenatal clinics in south western ...

A three-state Markov model of Plasmodium falciparum parasitemia
Mathematical Biosciences, 1993A three-state Markov model taking into account clinical signs of malaria infections by P. falciparum is described. The three states considered are the noninfected (state 0), the infected exhibiting no clinical signs (state 1), and the infected with clinical signs (state 2).

PARASITEMIA IN CHILDREN WITH PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM MALARIA RECEIVING CHEMOPROPHYLAXIS
The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2003Among 36 nonimmune children hospitalized in Paris for acute Plasmodium falciparum malaria after travel in Africa, 12 had received regular prophylaxis with chloroquine and proguanil until hospitalization, 16 had taken prophylaxis irregularly and 8 had received no prophylaxis. All had high fever and common symptoms of acute malaria.
