Host‐associated volatiles mediate host location in Cephalonomia tarsalis, with faecal odours from fourth‐instar larvae, particularly 1‐pentadecene, attracting females and supporting the biological control of stored‐product pest beetles. Abstract BACKGROUND Understanding how parasitoids locate their hosts is essential for improving the effectiveness of ...

Counties not countries: Variation in host specificity among populations of an aphid parasitoid
Parasitic wasps are among the most species‐rich groups on Earth. A major cause of this diversity may be local adaptation to host species. However, little is known about variation in host specificity among populations within parasitoid species.

Drought stress modulates indirect defense via bottom‐up effects in tomato and wheat
Different water regimes can have a significant impact on plant morphology and defense pathways in tomato and wheat, triggering multiple olfactory choices in biocontrol agents of key insect pests. These findings could be used to implement biocontrol strategies within the IPM context under a changing climate scenario.

The Parasitoid Complex of First Generation \u3ci\u3eOstrinia Nubilalis\u3c/i\u3e (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) Larvae in Northwest Ohio [PDF]
A survey of first generation European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis) larvae was conducted during 1997 in six cornfields located in northwestern Ohio in order to determine the larval parasitoid complex utilizing this host.

Pesticide use in integrated pest and pollinator management framework to protect pollinator health
Integrated pest management (IPM) emphasizes non‐chemical methods, with pesticides as a last resort, while integrated pest and pollinator management (IPPM) integrates pollinator health into pest control strategies. Abstract Agricultural pesticides have historically been a critical tool in controlling pests and diseases, preventing widespread suffering ...

The predatory effect of the honey‐buzzard affects the reproductive performance of Asian‐hornet colonies, decreasing the density of workers over distance and time. The foraging distances of the honey‐buzzard concentrates within the first 2000 m from nest, which supports the results observed.

Evolutionary Relationships of Courtship Songs in the Parasitic Wasp Genus, Cotesia (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) [PDF]
Acoustic signals play an important role in premating isolation based on sexual selection within many taxa. Many male parasitic wasps produce characteristic courtship songs used by females in mate selection.
