Transapical closure of mitral paravalvular leakage [PDF]
Paravalvular leakage after mitral valve surgery is a rare complication. The cause is usually the rupture of sutures. Although it may be asymptomatic, serious haemodynamic changes, heart failure and even death may be observed. Surgical treatment modalities have considerable morbidity rates.

Hemolysis After Transcatheter Mitral Valve Implantation Resolved by Valve Retensioning [PDF]
Transcatheter mitral valve implantation is an emerging technology for the treatment of inoperable or high-risk patients with symptomatic severe mitral regurgitation.

Paravalvular leakage (PVL), defined as the leakage between the aortic annulus and a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), is verifiably associated with short- and long-term clinical outcome, especially with increased mortality.

Computational study of the balloon dilation steps on transcatheter aortic valve replacement
Balloon dilation is a commonly used assistant method in transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and plays an important role during valve implantation procedure.

BASILICA Procedure Prior to Valve-in-Valve TAVR in a Supra-Annular TAV Prosthesis
An 80-year-old man with a supra-annular transcatheter aortic valve (TAV) prosthesis presented with severe transvalvular aortic regurgitation 18 months after the TAV replacement procedure.

Open Transapical Approach to Transcatheter Paravalvular Leakage Closure [PDF]
Background— Significant prosthetic paravalvular leakage (PVL) could have serious clinical consequences and impairs survival. Reoperation is associated with a high mortality rate, and transcatheter closure is a new treatment modality for high-risk patients.

Cuff leakage, not paravalvular leakage, in the Carpentier Edwards PERIMOUNT Magna Ease aortic bioprosthesis [PDF]
Though the Carpentier Edwards PERIMOUNT Magna Ease valve is a bioprosthesis with documented excellent haemodynamics and easy implantability, this valve has a gap between the cobalt-chromium-nickel alloy stent and silicone sewing ring. This gap, which is widest just below each of the three commissural struts, lacks silicone and leaves the two-layer ...

Transcatheter mitral paravalvular leakage closure: A beautiful last resort [PDF]
We describe a case of a 54-year-old patient with rheumatic heart valve disease who was treated with double valve replacement (both aortic and mitral) twice. Two months after the second operation she developed a severe mitral paravalvular leakage (PVL) leading to cardiogenic shock for which she was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.
